RE Downfall rumors: more bleed from the movies?

Some of you have no doubt seen the rumors about an RE5/6 bridge game starring Claire. While that sounds perfectly fine by itself (fans have been clamoring for another Claire-centered game for years), I'm concerned about the game's description:

However, in an interesting twist, the collection would also actually come with a game titled, “Resident Evil: Downfall”, which would star Claire Redfield between Resident Evil 5 & 6, who would witness humanity’s downfall.

I'm sorry, what? Is this yet more bleedthrough from the Anderson movies? I can deal with RE6's premise of large outbreaks, and of course it's all just a rumor at this point. But I swear, if the games go in the same full-blown post-apocalyptic direction as the movies, no table in my house will be left unflipped.

Seems odd I can't find anything else about it anywhere on t'internet at the minute - could be just rumour mongering. That wouldn't be the first time the sites posted false information as fact.

I don't think we should be worried, the RE CG movies have always locked in with the games stories, and we already know that the world is not in the terrible state it appears in the live action movies from what we have seen in Resident Evil 6.

Maybe Downfall could be a movie that shows how the C-Virus and events become so global in RE6?

I linked to the Rely on Horror story in my post. It's still up, but apparently the original "leak" sources are already gone from the intertubes. And on the other end of things, James Earl Jones is still listed as Sherry's voice actor on RE6's IMDB pages. Bahaha.

Maybe that's why Claire was included in Mercs 3D after all lol.
Either way we'll know for sure soon enough, I honestly hope it's true because I really want another Claire game. Not sure about the movies though, the 3DS screen is so tiny.

If the rumor is true (I'm calling shenanigans for now), I don't think the "downfall of humanity" necessarily means an apocalyptic scenario ala the live action films. It just means a lot of people are going to die, which we already know from the trailers for Resident Evil 6 alone.

In fact, if I remember correctly, one of the trailers for Degeneration said something similar about "witnessing the downfall of humanity." I could be wrong, though.

The "downfall" refers to the "No Hope Left" motif of BH6. Absolutely nothing to do with the movies.

Exactly what I'm thinking. Think of the usage of this term much like the term was used back during the Cold war. People were always saying "We're witnessing the downfall of humanity" due to the nuclear war threat. I mean, if you look at the progression of events from RE0 to RE6, humanity is falling pretty fast. xD
