    Yea I agree. I think they were going with, "Well we're not going to be able to make it as pretty and detailed as LOS so we'll just change the style." It can work as long as the models are smooth, but I already miss the realistic blood and grit. Cox has stated it will most likely be rated T (Aww, no more demon boobs), so I guess the cell shading helps them in that regard, but as long as they convey the dark atmosphere that matches LOS and fix the frame rates I'm golden.

    Here's a nice close up of Trevor.

    Hmm...I have a feeling from what 'Alucard' utters in his reveal trailer that he might be Trevor taking on the name & role of 'Alucard'...maybe a few years later, after Simon grows up and Trevor disappears (?).

    This feels almost like a retelling of Castlevania 3, and apparently there will be another character yet to be revealed (a Belnades?).

    "It seems fate has given me a second chance...father" - Alucard (his attire looks pretty close to Trevor's).

    If he isn't Trevor post-disappearance, Alucard might just be the son of a prior generation of Dracula....or another one of Gabriel's Long lost son's from another mother (one of them had to have been a vampire when he came to be, while the other a human to keep on with his original mythos of a Half-breed), meaning that Trevor & Alucard are half-brothers!!! DUM DUM DUMMM!

    Only time will tell. xD

    ^ Yea that's we've been speculating since the first trailer and after the latest clip it's all too obvious. Same voice actor, same clothes and just like a certain Belmont I know, he happens to be Gabriel's son. He was also defeated by Gabula, hence never returning to his family. We all know how the whole "Is Gabriel Dracula?" Fiasco went before LOS released.

    People on twitter: Is Gabriel going to turn in to Dracula?
    David Cox: No, Gabriel is not Dracula.

    Terrible lies, but just like Capcom with RE trailers, they tend to spoil some of the biggest twists before the game even releases. The only reason I can see them revealing Alucard so soon is for the fan love around his character.

    Gabriel = Dracula
    Trevor = Alucard

    Since there are four playable characters, (three belmonts: Trevor/Simon) and one additional character (Alucard), who will the third Belmont be? Richter? Julius? How will they be alive in the timeline unless Trevor or Marie had another child we don't know of.

    Kind of makes the Belmont clan feel like a bunch of loonies fighting an internal battle, I preferred the series being a battle between good and evil.

    I think it adds a layer of drama to the story, sort of like Luke finding out his father was Darth Vader. In this version of the storyline, the Belmonts are forever locked in combat with their ancestor who is angry at humanity and wants to crush it.

    Until one descendant just drops the kid gloves, says "SCREW THIS" and tosses his ass in a lunar eclipse.

    Still waiting on that, Igarashi.

    I have no idea what will be done with that particular final battle story... if it ever gets mentioned again. MercurySteam are not writing material to link with that canon though from what I can see.

    It is that too... but that alone would be too predictable.

    My midnight launch will be at midnight when I download it from the eShop. If I do. I gotta make sure I can spare the money first.

    Waiting for a price drop, in UK new 3DS games are close to console game prices so all they get is my middle finger for now.

    Release here is on Friday this week (same day as a pile of other stuff), but I think I'll have it tomorrow. Whored Lords of Shadow to the max, liked what I saw in the eShop demo, and hate anyone who dares hate on MercurySteam's efforts without acknowleding all the faults of franchise prior to MercurySteam saving the day.

    This week is expensive!

    Yea it's gonna be packed tonight between CV and Tomb Raider. MercurySteam is great, they're basically the little engine that could. I can't wait to see what they work on next after LOS2 concludes the LOS trilogy.

    I really enjoy Lords of Shadow, but I also loved the older storyline and I hope after this trilogy we get to go back to that to be honest.

    (Though, if Mercury Steam could pull a blinder and tie it all in I'll be extactic).

    Wasn't blown away by Mirror of Fate when I played it, but I must try the new demo to be honest, but I really like the look of Lords of Shadow 2.

    I'd love to see a 3D Castlevania done in the style of Dark Souls. It wants to be a Castlevania game so much sometimes.

    Gamestop didn't get enough pre-orders for CV so no midnight launch, gotta get up at 9:30 to kick the fucking door in at 10:00, get the game and my pre-order 3ds case and rush back home. I like how along with health fountains they also added the classic roast beef/Turkey health items! You can tell they are really trying to please fans of both LOS as well as fans of the traditional CV games with this one. The biggest complaint amongst CV fans in regards to LOS was that it simply lacked many items,enemies, characters and key elements that had been a staple of what made a CV game, well, a CV game. However seeing that the first game was prior to Dracula's exsistence it made sense. Now that the prince of darkness is back in full effect, the guys at MercurySteam have showered Mirror of Fate with buckets of classic CV material.

    Yea if I had to guess it will probably be released around October like LOS1. As for Mirror of Fate, I'm loving it so far. This is the first 3DS game where the 3D effect has blown my mind. I got halfway through Alucard's chapter before passing out lol.

    I agree.

    If you turn on the 3D effect (even all the way up), the backgrounds come alive. They stop being flat and they look very real.

    However, I only keep the 3D effect at half the way up on the slider. Having it all the way up is tough on the eyes. Despite the fact that I really enjoy how they look in 3D.

    Yeah. This is surprisingly enough one of those games that just doesn't look right when played in 2D.

    I got the game and while the 3D is good, I find the game to be lackluster. I am a big fan of the NES and DS games and was expecting it to play like the DS games, but it's more similar to the NES games. That's not bad at all, but I do find the experience to be off. I get nostalgic while playing it, but beyond that I don't think it's a 10/10 game. More like 6 or 7 out of 10.

    Did you do any research? They specifically mentioned multiple times throughout development that it was leaning more toward the style of Castlevania III.
