Not really. But there are those who'd rather see the right people get thanked (or at least make sure the wrong people don't get to take credit for something) and then decided to jumpstart their releases. The release of the Resident Evil 1 alphas were such a release.

He had no right doing what he did, because not all of us resort to insults and death threats. He was "punishing" everyone in the RE community over what a few jerks unaffiliated with us did which was pretty lame and selfish. So you could say he deserved everything done against him.
Hypothetical scenario here now; if you pay close to $10 000 for something, more than one person starts snooping around for all of your private information, you frequent communities where people deal with a lot of sensitive material and thus enjoy their privacy ... I'd say the moment the death threats starts rolling in; it's time to pack down the Mobile HQ and move on. If someone frequents a community where 4 and 5 digit numbers for a prototype of a videogame is somehow "affordable," what's to stop them from just one day showing up at someone's door? For 1/10 of that money, you can pretty much schedule yourself a flight to pretty much anywhere on the surface of this planet.

Why? Not able to contain yourself or something? If anything, every time new media has been discovered on 1.5, another piece of the "puzzle" has kinda been solved.

Those people threatening him were merely trolls and he took it very serious because he's a little scared bitch and used that as an excuse to get rid of "evidence" of him having the game. We had the same incident with Robert Kendo here regarding those BH1 betas, he only showed off for the sake of showing off as were his own words that; "the betas should never be released".
True. Those weren't really intended for any type of public exposure, but things probably don't always go as planned and leaks happen and stuff ends up in the hands of the wrong people and *bam* another pile of deals fall apart thanks to either lacking exclusivity or because people just don't trust you anymore (thanks to someone clearly leaking your content left 'n' right).

Pretty much. The guy is very protective of his content and sources. He gets a lot of material directly from developers and such, so whether he "paid" for something or not is irrelevant, really. He might've been better connected and done more to "earn" access to it than anyone on this board has ever been. At the end of the day; him not releasing it has nothing to do with being egoistic, but rather him simply being respectful of the wishes of his sources - like any other good journalist or curator should be.
Sure. A good few trolling attempts were done back then, but you know what? Who wouldn't? Especially after the hilarious immaturity and stupidity many in this community showed back then. The entitlement issues were so friggin hilarious that I don't even have words for it.
