Shoot him in the weak spot for massive damage and dodge the QTEs. Is a rail shooter, not a lot of tactics involved.

I do love the ease of using the knife with a DS3 controller. Darkside critical headshots are still BS though, half the time does not work still and get a regular hit on the perfect spot.

Must say I loathe the controls during the boss fights, other times they don't me but christ certain boss fights are an absolute nightmare.

But by gods do the textures look amazing. The games look fantastic, the Zero and Remake sections are unbelievable how much they're improved, and Darkside looks absolutely mega. It really shows up the Wii as the type of machine it could of been if it had HD out of the box.

UC cutscenes are upscaled. Also the subtitles are cropped. I also notice the profile pics for the character selection has be touched up on. They're more detailed and have more shading on them.

Haha, the spelling errors are getting silly now, though I assume it was in the Wii original, i've only noticed just now due to the sharper menus.

Check the Resident Evil 3 polaroid on the main menu. Raccoon Ctiy indeed.

Capcom's laziness when it comes to trophies is getting quite silly. They even kept all the "achievements" from the Wii version of Darkside and made them a requirement for a trophy lol.
Other than that they did a way better job compared to RE4 and CV.

This game still has framerate issues. I noticed quite a lot of slowdowns in Darkside Chronicles.

Ahhh Darkside, you are the perfect example of a passionate studio who wanted to push you as far as they could.

Infact! if Remake was to be remade I would give Cavia a real good chance with their pitch to be the ones to get the job done.

So I've finished UC except for all S ranks and played through most of Darkside now. Aside from playing the first stage of Umbrella Chronicles on a Wii back in 2008, I'd never touched them before this week. Was out of my RE buzz when the first came out and didn't want to buy a wii at the time.

While they're functional and fun, the canon is mostly treated poorly (however are these supposed to be the definite path now given some of the alterations?), and the games are a shadow of the full series titles they're mostly all based on. I would also love to know why they thought putting more shakey movement and taking away the camera control in Darkside was somehow a good idea.

The thing ironically which gave me the best experience/most enjoyment in the games was playing the Hunk 4th Survivor extra level, which is obviously a loose first person recreation somewhat of the PS1 mode. But that wasn't it, what it was was hearing all sorts of cross chat over his comms which picked up survivors calls, radio stations, commercials, and the like which just hit so hard. Capcom had missed such an chance with Outbreak and Raccoon City, to make a proper survival game that traversed the city during the outbreak. The simple sounds of desperation and a radio station talking about it's final broadcast, things that kinda dip into the Romero films about average surviors in a zombie outbreak. Something I've felt for over a decade since the REmake came out.

Maybe the Wii-U title ZombiU might fill that hole.

I'm wondering how many people bought these games, I just uploaded a score my first time on a level of Darkside and out of curiosity checked the leaderboards, I thought I did pretty awful, got cought in reload animations with shotgun too much and damaged a lot because of it, took way too long also. I placed 108th.

The BH0, BH1, BH2, BH3, BHCV chapters are "historic summaries" with no bearing on the series canon at all. Nothing definitive about them. They are alternative filler.

Anyone already got the gold trophy in UC?

Already got the Hand Cannon and nada.
The only thing that can defeat power is more power. That is the one constant in this universe. However, there is no point in power if it consumes itself.

You probably need it at level 5.

Cheers NB. I figured that was likely the case but you never can be too sure with Capcom sometimes. Not all the changes are bad, but they made some changes that were just plain weird.

Yes you do. Without the eye the game can not track your aim.

The dualshock controls are absolutely horrible for the TALOS fight. The game manages reasonably well but for that fight? Man alive.

About to properly go through Darkside now, first time playing it all the way through since release. Hope I warm to it better since then.
