Pacific Rim Q&A with Guillermo del Toro

Someone in the audience asks if PR was inspired from the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime. Guillermo says that it wasn't. And describes how as a kid he use to draw his own giant robots that had living quarters and control rooms and stuff (probably based on the one from Johnny Sokko And His Flying Robot) .

The guy is nearly 50 years old, so he was probably inspired by stuff that he grew up as a kid. Besides, its not new. Voltron, Robot Jox and even the Power Rangers did it.

I always wanted to see a good giant monsters/robots film. Cloverfield fell short of the mark. And Godzilla (the Hollywood version) was just weird. Hope this one does the trick.
