I would actually like to see the RE2 remake on the PS3 rather than the wii. Better graphics would make the game scarier.

Why does Capcom not want to remake Resident Evil 2? Im sure they have read the petitions, fans have been asking for a RE2 remake since RE1 remake was released. I mean, it should be somewhat easy for Capcom to do this since they already have the story, characters, monsters, etc. Im sure Capcom would hit the jackpot if they were to do this so why are they holding back? It doesnt make any sense if they know fans of the series really want this to happen, yet they wont bother with it.

I've never been sure. Maybe because a Remake takes a lot more funds than the ports they oh so love. Possibly there staff is so wrapped up in other projects they don't have minions to spare.
Or, and this is my personal favorite, Capcom like fans to suffer. |

I figure that they've been porting things so much, they are most likely sick of working with the old stories ;P
That, and the old style games don't sell as well these days. So they'd need to really dedicate an entire team to making new scenarios and such for the new gameplay. I doubt they'd do that, when they already have a ton of next-gen hits like Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Re5. All their top tier teams are probably busy with new properties. Ok so i was looking into it and i came across this quote and a link to the source http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/re...l-5_0_7?page=2
"If we had the chance to go back and remake Resident Evil 2...you know, I think there is the demand for it. It's certainly something we would like to consider and think about, but, quite frankly our hands are full with Resident Evil 5 right now, and trying to get that out of the door, so we're going to have to put all of our focus on Resident Evil 5 for the moment." ~Takeuchi I dont know how true that could be for all i know its totally bogus |

Personally, I wouldn't be opposed to a RE2 remake but in reality if given the choice between a remake or a brand spanking new game? I'd go with the new game. I'd prefer capcom to focus on pushing the story forward or developing the Resi 'verse with some new stories as opposed to rethreading old ground.
However if Capcom are too lazy for this, may I suggest an Umbrella Chronicles 2 focusing on RE2, RE Survivor and Cvx plus a new chapter? Or how about a Special Compilation disc with all the unreleased games on it like RE1.5, RE3.5 etc? Now THAT I would buy!!!!!! |

nah, resident evil 4 view point on wii is just too easy with zombies, headshot, headhost , done.... it should be done like a classic RE like remake...

i'm thinking what can be more expensive for capcom:
ramke it like re0 and 1 or make this ready for mt-framework engine @neoblast: not if the zombies are more stronger and resist more the bullet fire, if the pistols aren't auto (just one shot per time like in classics RE), not if they rid off the laser red trail when aiming. whatever, i want this in re4/5 view/gameplay and the full glory of 720p remade graphics with the horsepower of ps3 and 360 can offer ![]() |

The topic seems to have revived.
Either way, a remake would be nice instead of ports. |

I was reading one of my Uk Ps3 mag's and it says there is a poll on capcomunity.com that gives the fans a chance to vote for what game they want remade by Capcom and Re2 was on it but I cant find the damn poll anywhere.

Wont be anytime soon Re5 is thier number one goal at this moment. Should hear something this year though wasnt there a rumour about the guy that plays Leon's voice has signed a deal and is doing another project this year? Could be Degen2 though.

Or it could be a voice over for the Kennedy report, which is my personal theory.
I reckon the new control scheme would work brilliantly on RE3, but with RE2...well, I think they might wanna keep the older camera views for that. Maybe have it so it switches to the third person aiming mode when you wanna shoot. It's not as though they'll have big issues with making the enemies work. Look at Umbrella Chronicles. The fighting would probably not be that different to that. My biggest concern about an RE2 remake is them turning into an RE4 version, all nice and linear with nice and easy puzzles and a nice and easy story. And a complete lack of scary. Especially if RE4 Leon somehow ends up in RE2. 'You call yourself Mr X? Well, bitch, I'm Mister Xtreme!' *Rocket Launcher fires* |

Yeah there's no doubt that a remake (of prob any RE game) would sell and be profitable for Capcom so it would be feasible for them to do it. However, as stated previously, I'd much prefer them to get cracking on re6 after re5.
Don't get me wrong, I love re2 and admit it would be fantastic with better graphics etc but I suppose my main problem would be that I would automatically expect remakes of 3 and maybe Cvx then. |
