Default John Hughes is dead.

Yet another loss of a talented mind. He directed The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, Weird Science, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and many more. Along with that he wrote and produced the Home Alone series (and over a dozen other films). It was a heart attack. May he rest in piece.

This is really becoming a sad year for people who have made an impact the in film/music industry. But to comment on his films, home alone 1 and 2 were epic movies as a kid and had loads of funny moments, so here's to you john for making some fantastic films whilest growing up.

This is really sad. I loved the Home Alone movies, they were great. John Hughes was a great director. This year has had so many deaths. I hope there are no more.

Having been another one of those people who grew up on Hughes 80's films, was very sad to hear this earlier today. I watched my 2 fav Hughes films this avo (Bueller and Weird Science) because of it.

Also not wanting to burst anyones memory bubble here, but Hughes wrote and produced Home Alone 1 and 2 but wasn't the director. Chris Colombus was the director of both films.

It's a shame and I think I will watch Ferris Bueller's Day Off when I get home in an hour.

Ferris Bueller is easily one of my favorite movies ever. I think Matt Broderick said it best, and it applies here as well:

"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while...you could miss it."

And at the end of the movie he looks at the camera and says "Hey the movie is over, go home."

Am I the only one who doesn't feel anything when I hear about another death? I'm kinda desensitized to it now, especially since I don't know any of these people personally.

Desensitized is a good way to put it, I guess. People die every day, so I see why some people couldn't care less when it's a celebrity. Soldiers are getting blown away every day, people are murdered, people die in drunk driving accidents(like a 19 year old girl I went to high school with, died last week).

But, there will always be people who care when someone passes away. Well, most of the time.

Completely agree. I don't care who directed films I like. The only famous death that did bother me was Michael Jackson, and that wasn't because he was famous, it was because I genuinely think he was such a kind man and all his life he was torn apart by the media, and it hit a soft spot for me because he always forgave them, even when police locked him in a toilet for 45 minutes and (literally) threw faeces at him and asked him if he enjoyed the smell. >.>

To people I don't know intimately though, it doesn't really bother me that much. Like you CR29, in 2007, 3 people I knew from school went out on a boozer and got mangled to death when they drove head on into a lorry. I didn't really know them personally though so it didn't bother me. Same for this guy and the other recent famous deaths. I would only be upset if I knew the person properly or I was a crazy fan of someone famous.

I hate when people say this. Directors never get the credit they deserve. You know what, fuck the actors in the movies, the directors diverse every bit of credit a whole bunch more. Yet they rarely get any press when they die. But when an actor dies. Oh Noez! Everyone must mourn! It's plastered all over the news for weeks. I didn't even see John Hughes Death announced on the news.

The director made the whole film, without him/her there would be no film.

You guys are just way to desensitized and it's sickening. All of you. Grow a soul.
