Part 3: Hacking the Trials
-Resident Evil 4 Trial Edition-
Equipment Screen Debug (Beta Items)
Another point of interest, when the debug menu is activated
the merchant locations reveal themselves on the map.
Moving on from those discoveries we have now finished with the main menu debug.
Now, I'd like to move into the item menu debug. As you can see below the menu
pops up and covers most of Leon's face. It also displays some information on
how to control the items. Below that is the ID, which is just a number that
represents certain items and NUM which changes the quantity of the item. On
the final line you can see a number of options, this breaks the items down into
categories. NON will allow you access to all items, WEP shows only weapons,
BLT shows only bullets, CUR shows only health related items, SWP shows misc
equip items, OWP shows only secondary equipment such as the binoculars and the
three scrapped powers on the previous page and finally GLD shows only items
which can be sold.
I've found a number of neat items using this menu, so with that Ill show a
list below of the various items which were not covered with the "PHOTO,
VIDEO" debug setting which were found here. I should also say that there
are a lot of items without avatars or 3D "examine" models. So showing
them would be a waste of time, as they are unnamed as well.

What appears to be a ruby/gem of some kind
Infact, this item is actually a weapon. It takes the same shape as Leon's
default handgun but as you can see from the pictures it is red instead of
silver. I cannot notice anything different between the two however. |

Garbled Data.
After the FN57, all of the other items appear like this with garbled data.
There's no point in listing them all as they are all just junk items which
have no use. Its safe to say however that there are a lot more like this,
most likely used as place holders. |

While I'm in this menu, I thought it would be nice to show you all Capcom's
Work In Progress version of the item drop menu. This is activated by pressing
UP on the C-Stick when you are in the menu. Normally this wouldn't work, however
since the debug is unlocked it does! As you can see by the picture below the
background is not assigned, so it displays RE4's default "no texture"
green color. Moving the items out of the case turn them into names, as well
as the items avatars.
There really isn't much to say after that, the items are still in your main
menu so its possible that this either wasn't programmed enough, or Capcom quickly
ported the actual attaché case into the key item area, just to get things
working properly. So in effect, you could posses two inventory's, like in the
final game. Now with that menu finally explored and a few other trinkets found,
Id now like to move to the final debug menu. I suppose you can say we have saved
the best for last on this one. Here's a sneak peek until next update!
I also have some good news, Once this feature is completed we will be releasing
the trial editions (both of them) with the debug menu's activated. This way,
you all can see that this is infact true and so you can have fun with them yourselves.
We decided this because of the huge amount of requests we have been seeing for
this, so rather than give you a cut down version through AR codes, we will be
releasing the whole thing. I don't think this will cause too much heat, as it
is only a Trial Edition and less than 5% of the entire game is playable. We
dont like piracy and beleive it hurts companies, so please if you do like these
trials I encourage you to buy the original versions. Its a lot more rewarding
to have an original in your collection.
