Part 2: Trial Contents
Resident Evil 4 Preview Disc Extra's (GCN)
Since
this is ultimately and article about the trial itself I have decided to give
a quick walk through of just what area's are on the demo as well as a run down
of what makes it differ from the final release. I'm doing this under time constraints
however, so I may not have every possible difference. If you know of others
which I haven't listed here please let me know. Ill just be covering the Preview
Disc, as its the one which has the most Resident Evil related items on it. The
rest either have the same, or have less Resident Evil based features.
The disc starts out with a video playing of the GameCube logo
spinning as a voice whispers "GameCube". After booting to the main
menu you are treated to the save room music from Resident Evil 4. The disc starts
off ready to play the Resident Evil 4 demo and features four rotating images.
The Resident Evil 4 video is one that should be familiar to
all of you, it is the "Several years after the Raccoon City incident"
one. However its worth noting that this is the original version which displays
"Creatures that defy God's creation" rather than the politically correct
re-release of the trailer which shows "Creatures that defy Nature's creation".
This version also offers up a quality increase and as such the old version hosted
on THIA has been deleted. You can download it below.
The Resident Evil 0 video has also been previously seen however
this version is slightly different and since its almost a direct rip it has
much better quality than the previous versions hosted on THIA. As such, I am
offering it up for download.. An interesting note, Capcom failed to translate
this trailer into English. Japanese text can be seen scrolling throughout the
video.
The Resident Evil Remake however gets an all new trailer. This
is by far the shining star of the trailers on this disc, showing an immense
amount of game play and cut scene footage. Seeing as this is a new discovery
I have it available for download above.
Resident Evil 2 however receives no new trailer, in fact all
that is shown for it is the introduction movie.
Resident Evil 3 gets the same treatment as 2, only the introduction
movie is shown.
Finally, Resident Evil: Code Veronica X has its trailer. It
too, like 2 and 3 before it only gets the introduction movie shown.
Overall the only trailer that was new was the Resident Evil
Remake. Most of the other "trailers" don't even attempt to re-cap
the events in the game. This is a bit dis-heartening considering the packaging
claims. With the rest of the disc's contents out of the way lets move onto the
Resident Evil 4 demo contained on the disc on the next page.
