Part 3: Hacking the Trials
-Resident Evil 4 Trial Edition-
In Game Debug (Settings cont)

There were a few options which were too large to cover on the previous page so now I'll go in depth on them.

DEBUG OPTION>PLAYER>FLAG EDIT

Description

INF BULLET
Gives Leon infinite ammo to use reguardless of the weapon. There is no need to reload the weapon when this is enabled.

NO DEATH
Leon still performs the "hit" animations however no health is lost.

KAIOUKEN x#
Allows you to adjust the speed at which Leon can perform actions. The options are x2 up to x9. This allows you to run faster, and shoot faster. Combined with INF BULLET this produces a very funny effect.

AUTO LOCK ON
This option doesnt work in this version but presumably it would enable auto aim.

EASY LOCK
This option doesnt work either in this version, though I'd assume it would be another form of auto aim, perhaps one that locks onto enemies that are only in Leons field of view.

LOCK SPHERE
Creates a sphere around Leon (hit radius?) and a line (which goes through enemies) that shows where he is aiming. These only appear when Leon takes aim with his weapon.

INFORMATION
Creates a small XYZ placment at Leon's feet, similar to the POS MOVE option.

ATARI NO-HIT
Allows Leon to travel through solid objects, and all over the map. You can access any area with this option enabled!

00 HAND
Un-selectable.

01 HANDGUN FIVE-SEVEN
Crashes the game when selected.

02 HANDGUN P94 - BASIC, SIRENCER
Leon's default handgun. Selecting the "SIRENCER" option really does put a silencer on it. The sound the weapon makes is even changed to that of a silenced pistol!

03 HANDGUN C96
Crashes the game when selected.

04 HANDGUN XD95 EXTREME DUTY
Crashes the game when selected.

05 HANDGUN 60 ARMY CIVILIAN MODEL
Crashes the game when selected.

06 HANDGUN M1911A1 GAVAMENT
Crashes the game when selected.

07 SHOTGUN M870
The default shotgun Leon finds in the village.

08 SHOTGUN STREET SWEEPER
Crashes the game when selected.

09 SNIPER LIFLE M1903 SPRING FIELD
Crashes the game when selected.

10 SNIPER LIFLE SL8-1. 233 LIFLE
Crashes the game when selected.

11 MACHINEGUN TMP - BASIC, SIRENCER, STOCK, SIRENCER+STOCK
Crashes the game when selected.

12 MACHINEGUN M1
Crashes the game when selected.

13 ROCKET RUNCHER
Crashes the game when selected.

14 MINE THROWER
Crashes the game when selected.

15 SUPER MAGNUM 500
Crashes the game when selected.

16 KNIFE
The default knife.

17 CLUB
Gives Leon a handgun that is exactly the same as his default except that it is colored red. This is presumably the same weapon as the blue gem one found on page 18. I've recently found that the gun causes considerably more blood to come out of enemies when shot with it than if you were to shoot with the default handgun. This is likely a placeholder for an actual Club weapon that didnt make it into the game.

18 KICK
While giving Leon is default pistol, this weapon actually causes enemies to suffer the same effect as if Leon kicked them which would cause them to fly back. Thanks to Kreig747 for pointing that out!

19 GRENADE
Gives Leon the default grenade.

BG COLOR GREEN
Toggles whethere the unseen background should be Green or Black as seen in the Atari No Hit screen above.

LOG OFF
Turns the text shown in the upper right of the screen when errors are occuring on or off.

FOG OFF
Turns the fog used in the game on or off. This makes the game very clear to see but also shows where parts of the map are not being rendered until Leon approaches them closer. Its a very cool effect with it off though.
Fog on

Fog off

BLOCK ALL DISP
Crashes the game when selected.

ERROR CHECK
Unknown, I cant find anything that it affects.

DEBUG OPTION>SCROLL>DIS MODE
Dis mode has a number of options available right away. So below Ill show you a screenshot from the same area in the game but with the different modes turned on.

POLYGON
The default Display Mode.

SCR AT
Renders lines where geometry is.

EFF AT
Appears to define boundries in blue.

POLYGON + SAT
Overlays the SCR AT lines/colors with the POLYGON view.

POLYGON + EAT
Overlays the EFF AT lines/colors with the POLYGON view.

OFF
Removes all Geometry and models. Only the 2D background textures are still shown and a few effects based objects remain.

With Debug Option finished we'll move onto the next set of options from the main menu. Unfortunately almost all of the options left do not function in this trial. The ones that do are Flag Edit, Log Viewer and Screen Shot Tool. Showing you Flag Edit is going to take a really long time and it will be quite long, so Im going to show the effects of the other two first.

LOG VIEWER

Log Viewer displays a list of all the warning and such that the debug menu has given you. You can scroll through it using the C Stick on the Gamecube controller.

SCREEN SHOT TOOL

The screenshot tool has various options for how to take screenshots of the game however all rely on having a developers kit along with the nessesary software. I dont have this, so this tool doesnt really have much to show. It is the tool Capcom uses to get perfect quality screenshots from Resident Evil 4.
