History with the site:
I started The Horror Is Alive back in mid-1999 where it was
run off my home computer at the time with a cable internet connection.
Those times were tough for the site because I had such a bad computer
and knew nothing for the most part. I started working in Microsoft
Word 97 to learn HTML. After realizing it's imperfections, I switched
to Microsoft Frontpage 98 which was barely an upgrade but it worked
for awhile. Later on I moved to using Macromedia Dreamweaver in
conjunction with Notepad at times. The site has also gone through
MANY revamps over the years, including well over 15 completely
different designs, which not all were used or even shown off.
Over the years I've been pretty much a loner in the web site
world because I never found anybody who had the same kind of ideas
as myself and knew how to execute them well. In roughly mid-2001
I ran into Dot50Cal and we hit it off with most ideas and he had
lots of potential to be helpful with the site. Over the years
Dot50cal has done as much as myself or more for the site and THIA
wouldn't be what it was/is without him.
At the prime of THIA's life, we also covered the Silent Hill
series and we were hosted on the Gamespy Network. While I myself
love the Silent Hill series, I don't know all that much about
it and that is where my good friend Chris came in. I had known
him for quite awhile before we really started into the Silent
Hill section of THIA. We had met through THIA back in 2000 and
we later met multiple times in real life. Chris lived in Florida
at the time and he drove all the way up to New York just to visit.
Chris' knowledge of Silent Hill is easily more than my own of
Resident Evil which is why he ran the Silent Hill pages on the
site. The Silent Hill section never got time to show off what
it could have really been before the time came where I lost almost
all my data for the original site and decided to leave it as is.
With that Gamespy took it upon theirselves to take the site down
and it has been since then, around 3 years ago.
Background information:
I was home-schooled back in the day and really got into computers
in 1997 when I road my bike everyday to a cyber-cafe to use the
internet. The following year I got my own computer with internet
and it all went from there. I've been into videogames since the
Nintendo (Atari was before my time sadly) and I got into Resident
Evil because my neighbor got a Playstation when it first came
out and that was the second game he got and the first I ever played
on the system. Resident Evil has since been my favorite game series,
with close runner ups like Metal Gear, Final Fantasy and the Quake
series.
My tag [DDZ] is from my Quake years. It stands for Death DealerZ
and they have been around since Doom, at one point they were one
of the biggest Quake 2 and 3 clans out there. They still play,
though I do not. I was actually a huge fan of their clan for years
and managed to get into the clan by luck of running into a recruiter
in a public server in a game of Quake 3. My Quake days were my
prime of gaming, infact according to The CPL at one point I was
one of the top 100 Quake 2 Capture The Flag players in the world.
My personal record stands at 197 kills and 0 deaths (No flag captures)
which I set recently in my first game of Quake 2 in over 4 years.
I can't say I'm good in games besides Quake though sadly.
Besides gaming I play the guitar regularly and have for years.
My guitar teacher turned out to be a great friend and now I work
right under him at the local EB Games as third key. I also do
photography for local bands, two of those bands are now touring
the US inwhich one of them is signed to Metal Blade Records and
will probably be in your cd player within a few years. Shouts
goes out to The Red Death of upstate New York, Slightly Askew
(If they're still called that) and of course Highland Drive (Guitar
teacher's band). I work virtually everyday all day at the local
EB Games, so time for games isn't as plentiful as it used to be,
though I still manage to sit down and play here and there.
Outside of work and hobbies I'm all about friends, Dot50Cal
and Chrism3784 are two fo my best friends and I met them both
through THIA years ago. I've visited John many times and he's
been up to New York a few, probably as much as Chris has been
here coming all the way from Florida. At the moment I live in
an apartment with two long time friends, Charles and Dave. I'm
big into computers and so I am the local nerd in the house. I
also collect DVD's, it's an addiction I have to say. I cannot
stop buying them for some strange reason.

History with the site:
Lets see, I found this site a long long time ago, maybe around
2000. I was looking for Resident Evil soundtracks. I did a search,
and came along this site. This site had everything, it was just
starting to become what was to be the best Resident Evil site
at the time. But I noticed it to go off here and there, and
not work. I emailed the webmaster, IceDDZ. He emailed back and
told me about the site is suppose to do that when he shuts down
his computer, because of how he was running it from his computer.
He also gave me his AIM name. I chatted one day and told him
my love for Resident Evil, and it went on from there. I had
a huge interest in the soundtracks, pictures, and video from
the games. So I went to work on helping set the pages up for
the soundtracks. But my lack of web design, even though I took
a year of it in high school, I really couldn't come up with
anything. So IceDDZ made the pages, I just did the repeatative
work like linkings. I got very good with audio, I made my own
custom Resident Evil 1 Original soundtrack by recording it straight
from the Playstation A/V output. Also, before all of this, back
in 1999, I made the very first, Resident Evil Director's Cut,
Dual Shock Faqs/Walkthrough. It is the first, and still today,
best Faqs/Walkthrough you can get for Resident Evil Director's
Cut, Dual Shock. I have updated it 19 times so far always adding
new info.
I started getting really good with working with videos, I
got a video card, which were rare those days, I started taking
tons and tons of pictures of each Resident Evil game. We also
had a Silent Hill page at the time which I did pictures for
also. We had more pictures then any other site combined, and
all complete soundtracks to all games. I also recorded random
videos from the games, in good quality too. I also figured out
how to rip video from Silent Hill 1 game, and use the PC versions
of Resident Evil to get video from also. Soon after, Dot50Cal
joined and his mastery with video overwhelmed me, so I let him
in charge of that, even though I pretty much had all the videos
availiable. Then one day, IceDDZ closed the site. With a few
hard drive crashes I have, almost all my pictures are lost,
and all the videos I made, gone. The only thing I was ever to
get again where the soundtrack that IceDDZ still had.
Background information:
I was introducted to Resident Evil, early 1999 when my brother
went out and got two new PSX games, which at that time PSX was
new to me, we had just gotten it. They were Twisted Metal 2,
and Resident Evil, Director's Cut, Dual Shock. I liked TM2,
it was fun, but Resident Evil was by far my favorite game. I
loved it so much, I didn't like the walkthroughs out there,
which we re only for Director's Cut, I made my own walkthrough,
for the dual shock version, which there were none on gamefaqs.com
at that time. Now there are lots, which mine is on the very
top, and the best one, by far.
I got Resident Evil 2 at that time, it was just released not
to long before, for the PC. I instantly loved it, played it
religiously for 2 years after. When RE3 came out, I immediately
got it, loved it, and played it out. After Code Veronica, which
I like also, my Resident Evil skills went down. I used to be
a perfect player, but now, I am horrible. I got Silent Hill
when my friend David, recommended it to me, sometime in 2001.
Got Silent Hill 2 when it came out.
I became real good friends with IceDDZ, after about 2 years
of online friendship, I got a decent running car, I drove up
to NY to hang out. That was awesome, we played video games,
ate pizza, and went to cool places around his hometown. His
parents were also the nicest parents I ever meet in my life.
I enjoyed it so much I went there for another visit a year after
graduating high school, and just before joining the Army. I
brought my friend David along, it was another enjoyable visit,
from playing more games, to Toronto, Cananda, to losing my car
for 7 hours in midtown Manhatten, NYC.
Like I said, I joined the Army, went through training, got
sent to Germany. A year and half after joining, I came home
on Leave and went on a 3500 mile roadtrip with my friend David.
We first drove up to Alabama, to visit family, then from there,
to my brothers in Maryland. After that, I went to IceDDZ's in
New York, but for a short while. While there, me and IceDDZ
drove to Scranton, PA to finally meet John (Dot50Cal), who never
wanted to come to NY while I was there. That was an awesome
visit, to the Lake House, to an abandoned slaughterhouse, to
looking at his Taurus Wagon.
Oh yeah by the way, I have a thing for the Ford Taurus Wagon,
I love those cars, and would not want any other. I am the current
owner of a 1988 Taurus Wagon LX, which is sitting in Germany
right now.

History with the site:
I used to run my own Resident Evil site called "Stars
and Umbrella's HQ". It was hosted on Geocities and got
quite a large number of hits for such a small site. The most
popular feature was the "Movie of the Week" in which
I took an FMV from various Resident Evil games and made it
into a .gif. Being new to the Internet and computers in general
back then, I did it all by hand. I didn't know how to encode
videos at all back then and multiple attempts were made however
all failed.
I first met Ice from an argument we had. I found his website
through a search engine and noticed he was using my (poorly
made) Umbrella logo that I had on my website. I got pretty
mad and messaged him on ICQ about it. It turns out he didn't
even know, He thought it was the official Capcom one (Hey,
we were both newbies back then..). After talking with him
for a while a friendship grew and we became the best of friends.
About 2 years later I joined up with THIA officially as the
video guy and a news poster after I lost the will to continue
my site. By this time I was just getting into video encoding
and it was becoming like second nature. Throughout this time
I had the pleasure of meeting both Ice a few times, and Chris
once in person. A few months later though Ice lost lots of
data and the site was kept in a frozen state until Gamespy
killed it for inactivity. A few months after that Ice had
let me know he was working on a new THIA. He was at first
reluctant to let me join but soon gave in and that is the
current incarnation of THIA.
The current site is largely made by myself which was a big
change for me. I was used to doing videos and maybe some graphics.
However since Ice has been away I have had to take the reigns
of the site and run with them. Thanks to a lot of contacts
I've made in communities like Bioflames THIA has a large,
dedicated, and extremely knowledgeable staff.
Background information:
I was first introduced to Resident Evil when I made a trip
to my local Block Buster video in 1996. It was there that
I seen Resident Evil. The cover looked so interesting to me,
since I was a very big horror movie fan. After looking at
the box I convinced my mother to rent a PS1 system along with
Resident Evil. When I got home I played the game non stop,
it was so cool seeing the live action FMV sequences and playing
a horror game with such advanced graphics. I didn't have a
memory card so dying was a problem. On my final day with the
system I got to the snake boss (Yawn) and died. I was hooked,
My parents bought me a PS1 soon after and I began playing
the game like no tomorrow.
My interest tapered off a bit on video games soon after Resident
Evil 2 was released but I immediately gained it back when
a cousin of mine revealed that Resident Evil 3 was released.
I had to have the game! It had my favorite character as the
playable one again! In about 2000 I was first introduced to
computers when my family bought one. Shortly after I began
to learn the ways of the Internet I found fan sites for Resident
Evil and decided to start my own. Soon after began my THIA
days.
Before the current site was decided on, I began collecting
Resident Evil Merchandise slowly. However once Ice let me
know he was working on a new THIA I got and Idea to cover
all the merchandise in the Resident Evil universe for the
site. It was something that no one had done before. Thus the
idea for the Features section was born. I began collecting
merchandise and today have a very large collection of Resident
Evil items. All of which I hope to one day cover on the site.

Well, I first met Dot50Cal over on another forum, when
I posted the first pictures of the Resident Evil 4 Playstation
2 Demo Disk. Since then, I've posted news when someone
else happened to miss it, and have come up with a few
unique topics at times.
Background Information:
I have been playing games for as long as I remember,
ranging from the Atari 2600 to the NES, and everything
after it, including some more obscure consoles, such as
the Philips CD-i. Resident Evil has been in my house since
my brother's friend brought up his brand new Playstation
(which I wondered what the heck it was) and I heard them
scream when the dogs jumped through the windows. Granted,
it probably wasnt the best game for an 11 year old to
be watching, and I suffered at times at nights, but it
was worth it. Nowadays, I run my gaming website, Past
to Present Online (ptoponline.com), which provides some
unique media for the rare and obscure games and consoles
that some people may have never seen before.

in 1998, action-adventure games replaced fighters as
my favorite genre. The release of Tenchu and MGS later
that year solidified that.

History with the site:
Back in early 1858, a gentleman named John
approached me, holding in his gloved hand a
series of paper sheets; the top sheet reading
The Horror Is Alive. He was out
advertising a brilliant new idea known as a
web site or some flabbergasted new
contraption. He opened his mouth while handing
me some of the well printer flyers, but it was
about that time that things began to get hazy.
Background information:
Lets see shall we? I started out gaming
on my dads laptop back in the day (1990?), playing
on NES emulators, black and white isometric
games and laptop games such as a teenage mutant
hero turtles game which was awesome and I remember
getting stuck on. Because of this I walked out
of the pc gaming arena just as most of my friends
were finding the entrance to it, and I went
straight for the best console of the time
the Sega Megadrive.
My dad also introduced me to this which I loved
and still own, still in its original box as
well! Gaming pretty much became my main interest,
right next to skateboarding for a long time,
allowing me to become a socially un-cool individual
as I didnt like RnB. I didnt
like any music at the time, games and skating
with my mates were my world, and soon followed
anime.
Nowadays, I cant say Ive changed
an awful lot. I love the company of the sexy
ladies, my friends mean everything to me, games
are still my life, but I sadly rarely skate
anymore. I suck at it now in fact XD
Im at university, studying Games
Production at Lincoln university, although
I was originally going to do journalism so I
could review games instead of making them. I
live with 6 other people, all of who are my
friends. Ive had many a tragic love story
with girls yet I still seem un-phased at trying
to attract more and I play the guitar now thanks
to a friend. Ive almost always got his
guitar in my room, and have been playing it
for about 7 months now I think. Not THAT long,
but I can play songs, etc, so I cant be
that bad at it.
I havent got a job at the moment as I
just finished my first year of Uni, but ill
get one over the summer and go from there. Other
than gaming, sleeping or wishing I were skating,
Im either talking online to the Bioflames
crew as the group name on msn states them
(such as Dot, Randomwab, Alzaire, Carnivol,
etc), or im hanging with my close friends from
back home, where we will game, shoot each other
with bb guns, or just insult each other mid
conversation.
Thats pretty much me and my background,
in a sense

Found the site years ago when looking for
Biohazard 1.5 information. Talked with IceDDZ

Dot50 and joined the forum a few months ago.
Background information:
Found out about Biohazard series in a GamePro
before it was released and purchased a Playstation
just in anticipation to play Biohazard 1.
After being a huge fan of the first one, details
of the Biohazard 2 from future GamePro magazines
had me wild in anticipation. My GamePro subscription
ran out before finding out about the scrapping
of the original Biohazard 2 (which is the
version I was wildly anticipating). Nevertheless
I continued to purchase the Biohazard games
as they were released. Around the year 2000
I discovered in more detail about the original
version of Biohazard 2 and have since been
obsessed over said version, commonly known
as Biohazard 1.5. While interest in the more
recent Biohazards and the series after BH3
has been a bit disappointed or low, the obsession
with BH1.5 has kept me around the field and
involved. Until the day I receive Biohazard
1.5, I'll be here.

I've known about the site for quite a
while now. It's coming close to maybe 4-5
years. I only recently started to become
active at THIA (is 2005 still recent?) Anyway,
long story short, met some cool people in
my years in the Resident Evil community,
some of which I've known for almost 7 years
now. As with any job, the more people working,
the more that get's done. That is why I
joined up with THIA. It's a great way to
add my point of view to an already established
website which is clearly going places in
the future with the team it has established.
It's something that seems worth while to
be a part of.
Background information:
I started my love affair with video games
when I was really young playing with my
sister's Oddessy II and then soon after
that a NES when they came out. I have always
liked scary games. I was hooked on games
for as long as I can remember but never
like it was when I first played Resident
Evil on July 9, 1996, when I turned 12 years
old. I knew the game had come out a few
months before because I had been reading
about it in gaming magazines for about a
month or two and essentially drooling over
it. It's something about the first few times
you walk through the Cerebus Corridor where
they smash through the window that always
scares the shit out of you. I miss that
feeling. Knowing its coming but still scared
of it. It's been a while since that has
scared since I've gotten so used to it that's
it has desensitized me. Although I loved
the game I really wasnt into collecting
video games and merchandice at that time
so I really missed out on alot of oppourtunities
looking back, but I enjoy spending my money
on something I love to do. I just wish it
was a cheaper hobby >_>;
