Played demo today. It's great and overall I'm very glad that this franchise exists.
The only minor complaint I had so far is about enemies jumping out from the snow in the ground. It's like they dug a hole and were sitting in there waiting for a player. Jump scares. A monster jumping out of the monster closet, it's a cheap trick. When they were busting through the vents in past 2 games that was reasonable, but now jumping out of the snow when there's nothing to indicate that anything is even there... is kinda a cheap way to keep the player on the edge. And judging by the demo they'll be relying on this type of ambush more than once.

The whole series is full of jump scares. My favorites are the ones when everything is silent than a loud sounds blasts off like a TV getting turned on with no reason.

Lol, didn't they just spawn right behind you in Dead Space 2? So many enemies in that game I forget where they all came from.

Yup. Dead Space 1 and 2 had several pre-baked spawns that appeared (and with a bit of camera trickeroo; you could even see them just warp in.)

Alright, I'll simplify it for you. Are the changes in gameplay enough for DS3 to be an action shooter, or is it still close enough to DS1/2?

They weren't upgraded though in previous games and barely better than the originals, aside from the Tank suit in DS1. This sounds like you can just go overpowered instantly, where as normally that would take until near end game just to get one or two weapons fully powered, even DLC ones.

It's closer to Dead Space 2, I think. Sure, you have dodge mechanics and shooting enemies, but it's no Gears of War, if you ask me. So yes, Dead Space still feels like Dead Space.

I tried the demo and the snow was worse in Bolton today.

At least you don't have Necromorphs to worry about.

While Phil Collins isn't exactly what comes to mind when I think Dead Space, I couldn't help but feel giddy at this. It's just pure epic. I can't wait.

That's a pretty good mix.. classy! I can imagine Capcom trying to do that with RE7 and it not working..

Reminds me of the Gears of War advert with 'Madworld' playing. Still, nice trailer.

                            I like this version.

So any news if game supports splitscreen? No plans to buy this so the online pass will screw any online co-op attempts during a rental.

I expected it to be Phil Collins wearing the RIG suit.

I'm ready for this, as long as Origin can handle the power of my bandwidth. I'll be going exclusively co-op on hard difficulty.. should be fun!
