No. People are just pretentious little brats pretending to be excited about this announcement.

Anyway, original is a bit of an interesting little thing.
EA doing this now is certainly somehow related to how there are two movie productions of Alice in Wonderland active at the moment (one being a Tim Burton production, which seems to actually be going somewhere and contains a rather eyebrow raising cast, and the other being a movie license based on American McGee's Alice, which is a project that seems to be going nowhere and hasn't been going anywhere for the past half-decade.)

Please, that rumor has been around forever, first he was doing his own Alice, then he was in a film called Living Neon Dreams, and now he's supposed to be in Tim's one. The cast has already been announced for Tim's adaptation, no surprise that Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter are in it
