I wish developers would think outside the box with FPS single-player (S.T.A.L.K.E.R., BioShock). FPS single player doesn't have to a be a single playthrough, one-trick pony.Last edited by TenderRondo; 05-21-2011, 05:21 PM.

If Resistance 2 wasn't such an unbelievable piece of crap, RE3 would be an amazing "humanity has lost" kind of a sequel with that Half Life 2 vibe. Except, the whole boat-trip video segment showed some poor scripted setpieces already. Good atmosphere, really well done, but gameplay looks as much fun as watching paint dry.

Co-op mode was fun and competitive was pretty hectic and tense, you couldn't really camp anywhere because there were simply too many players on the map. Everyone was running around, shooting at each other and trying to avoid getting shot in return. It was crazy. Much faster paced than Call of Duty. See I played Black Ops online and all people seemed to do was loiter in one place or spam grenades but in Resistance 2 you had everyone fannying around in an epic gun battle on the streets, jumping through the air.
And therein lies my appeal in Resistance 3, it's a completely different tone to Resistance 2. Whereas the second game was all about being some battle hardened space marine type gunning down aliens, R3 has - like you said - a nice Half-Life 2 vibe about it, there's a real sense of hopelessness. I expect to see civilians huddled in corridors, babies crying, pretty much like that scene from The Terminator where you see Kyle Reese in a resistance base, looking at that photograph of Sarah Connor. That's what I want to see, this futile, desperate fight.

Capelli should be this reluctant hero, like John Connor fighting Skynet. People kind of looking up to him, seeing him as this final hope as he walks past survivors gathered around fires, eating from tins of beans or something. Unfortunately this is why I think R3 won't be treated positively in reviews, because it isn't like Call of Duty. Kids will bitch about having to pick up a health kit every so often because of no regenerating health.See you in hell.
