I agree that there is still no proof that our credit card information is safe...BUT! Who is to say that these people are not victims of credit card fraud, which coincidently happened in the same timeframe as the PSN mishap? Some people have their card information plastered all over the internet, and in all truth, if I were a hacker (and a smart one), I would definitely take card information in this timeframe because I could easily make it look like it was because of the PSN network being hacked.Originally posted by Alexia_Ashford View PostSo what about that guy who has had his card blocked who Gareth quoted above? That is still no proof that our credit card info is safe. They said they have no evidence it was taken but they cannot rule out that possibility, you missed that bit. If they were so sure our credit card info was safe, on Wednesday, then they would have said so in their statement. Just more speculation.
Or also, what is to stop these people from just being plain stupid and hypersensitive? I have people all the time calling my store saying they didn't buy this or they didn't buy that when they get their bank statements. I then have to look up the receipt and tell them what they bought and then get the "Oh, I'm so sorry, I feel like such an idiot. I did buy that." I also get similar phone calls about people being over charged by $20, $40, etc, but this was again, stupidity on their part as they got cash back with their purchase.
This situation has people all nerves, and being a little bit more sensitive then they probably should be. Be realistic about it: Monitor your bank statements, change your passwords for added security, and just be vigilant overall with identity theft.
Just saying, we still have no proof either way (which does really annoy me!)

I'm not defending Sony but you have to remember this is the internet where 4/5 stories are made up crap. There being CC issues from people who had it on PSN could just be coincidental since this happens every day or it could be from things like them accessing paypal using stlen e-mail and passwords and the actual card data was not taken.
Using any claims CC issues are directly caused by Sony aren't concrete by any measure.
Is like when a new game releases that is hugely popular and suddenly many people claim the game broke their console, the numbers of broken consoles is probably the same as any other week is just that tat week they all played the new popular game while other weeks people were playing lots of different ones.Last edited by Dracarys; 04-29-2011, 01:16 PM.Beanovsky Durst - "They are not pervs. They are japanese."

the new york times seldom have the whole story and even more seldom print it.Originally posted by Alexia_Ashford View PostAs I've said to you on MSN, I find it distasteful that you only quoted part of the article then said "it looks like our credit card info is safe". The only two options is that you've not done your research and are just quoting something someone else has said, or are deliberately only quoting part of the article to spin Sony in a good light.

Press Release - PSN & Qriocity services will be available this week.
There's also a section that there will be some sort of free content, though that will vary per region, there will also be 30 days free PSN+ and Qriocity services for all customers.
However, the PSN, Qriocity services will be put back up regionally. No order has been specified.
I keep hearing May 3rd as the possible date that everything will be up and running again, though not sure as of yet.

One would believe they would focus on that date because it would be a day where PSN updates would be taking place anyway for the week, and of course it's a week after they said "it'll be a week most likely" but of course it's speculation at this stage and even when they said it was a week it was hopeful based on no further issues.

They're coming for you, Carn. The company is conducting a thorough and on-going investigation and working with law enforcement to track down and prosecute those responsible for the illegal intrusion.
So not only will there be some free content but also free PSN+, which means more free content and offers. I like this, think I'll pick up Red Johnson's Chronicles since it's half price for PSN+ users.Central components of the “Welcome Back” program will include:
* Each territory will be offering selected PlayStation entertainment content for free download. Specific details of this content will be announced in each region soon.
* All existing PlayStation Network customers will be provided with 30 days free membership in the PlayStation Plus premium service. Current members of PlayStation Plus will receive 30 days free service.
* Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity subscribers (in countries where the service is available) will receive 30 days free service.
Wow, so yet MORE to come? They're really rolling out the red carpet. I hope we see some much-requested features being implemented in the near future.Additional “Welcome Back” entertainment and service offerings will be rolled out over the coming weeks as the company returns the PlayStation Network and Qriocity services to the quality standard users have grown to enjoy and strive to exceed those exceptions.
Seems a lot more than just getting a copy of Undertow.Last edited by Mr. Spencer; 05-01-2011, 02:39 AM.See you in hell.

I like the fact that Sony are now in my debt. I could probably punch Kazuo Hirai's wife in the face and he'd have to apologise to me.
Fun fact - Howard Stringer is a Vietnam war veteran.Last edited by Mr. Spencer; 05-01-2011, 07:45 AM.See you in hell.
