I read somewhere that the game is finished but Microsoft needs a strong title for the holidays.

But the holiday season starts between november and december, right? Gears was scheduled for September, which isn't that far away.

The game was already done in May I believe but they wanted that multiplayer beta so it got pushed back. Damned beta....

As for gameplay I had played the public beta and I'm on the fence about it since it felt nearly the same as Gears2. I'm not committed to buying it yet. There aren't enough improvements to me to justify another $60 on the 3rd installation in this franchise.

Well it depends, I liked the campaign of both Gears 1 & 2, so I would definetly give the 3rd one a shot, plus it's a 4 player campaign, which will be perfect for my buddies. Multiplayer didn't need too much to be good... They just needed dedicated servers, I really enjoyed the beta, more than the lagfests from GoW2.
