Am I the Only One Who Hates Online Gaming?

I don't mind online gaming, but that's mostly because I grew up on the original Battle.net. I agree that most of these "online multiplayer only" games should offer a local option, so people could play with people next to them, as well as online (or both at the same time like Halo and Call of Duty). But it kind of does ruin some games like Resident Evil, just look at how horrible RE5 was, but to be fair, multiplayer wasn't what ruined it so much. Now then, if RE0 for GameCube had local and online co-op, that would be really awesome, so long as it didn't take away from the single player experience.Last edited by Ununoctium; 10-20-2011, 07:05 PM.Fission mailed.

"I hate online gaming" = I STINK AND I'M A NOOB LOLOLOL WTFBBQ HAXX
I enjoy competitive multiplayer and co-op multiplayer for what they are. They can be annoying and frustrating as hell, but I try not to get TOO worked up about it. The only times I get really pissed off is when people exploit imbalanced aspects of games...or when they camp like bitches or use noob tubes. Most of the time when you die in an online game, it's your fault, but there are circumstances when the people you're playing against are playing like pussies and it makes me want to skin a cat and punt a baby in the same motion.Last edited by Vector; 10-20-2011, 07:32 PM.

You can mute all the 12 year olds or just everyone in the entire game, you know? If you think the sexual comments are bad, you should seem some of the messages a lot of my girl gamer friends get. I swear, they get the most friend requests and most perverted messages ever, especially when they talk with their mic and everyone is like "OMG IT'S A GIRL! WILL YOU GO OUT WITH ME? SUCK MY DICK! and YOU SUCK BECAUSE GIRLS CAN'T PLAY GAMES!" it's pretty lulzworthy, and what's even funnier is when the white knights come in and try to defend her, but of course I highly doubt their intentions are so honorable.Originally posted by Darkmoon View PostNo, it's the racial slurs and sexual comments that put me off. You see, it's entirely tactical.. when I played CS I would use a huge eagle swastika as my spraypaint thing, as soon as people came round the corner 90% of the time they would fire a few AK rounds into it and/or go into a fit - during which time I would be behind them with a knife *humiliation*, you were probably one of those guysOriginally posted by Darkmoon View PostNo, it's the racial slurs and sexual comments that put me off. Yeah, girls have it a lot worse than guys in most cases. It's rare to join a lobby without at least one moron seeing their name/hearing their voice and being like "HEY IS THAT A GIRL? ARE YOU A GIRL? ARE YOU HOT?" And then when I say something to defend them, I get "OH IS THAT YOUR GIRLFRIEND?" It's annoying but there is indeed a mute button in most online games.

I love multiplayer only when there aren't a ton of campers or stupid little kids online (no offence intended). it really gets me when I am playing a M rated game and then I hear 5 year olds talking and cursing. Your kid should not be playing a game meant for 17+ year olds, especially with all the vulgar language that is online now.Originally posted by Darkmoon View PostNo, it's the racial slurs and sexual comments that put me off. I'm tired of playing CoD and hearing words such as "nigger" and "fag" (sorry again for the language). I mean it's like a giant cluster fuck of this stuff online and it gets old really fast. Most of the time I jsut mute everyone else except my friends or good players.
I miss the good old days when story was before gameplay and multiplayer was just a bonus to the game. Many games now are built for multiplayer..Last edited by Zombie_X; 10-21-2011, 11:00 PM.

QQ I played mature games since at least when I was like 8 and I'd like to think that I turned out alright.Originally posted by Zombie_X View PostI love multiplayer only when there aren't a ton of campers or stupid little kids online (no offence intended). it really gets me when I am playing a M rated game and then I hear 5 year olds talking and cursing. Same here but it's different now with online multiplayer. Kids are exposed to so much more than what local split screen used to do.Originally posted by Ununoctium View PostQQ I played mature games since at least when I was like 8 and I'd like to think that I turned out alright.

I played online multiplayer when I was like 10, it hasn't really changed all that much...other than of course faster connection speeds, better graphics, a move towards psuedo-realism, and a move away from tactical gameplay. But we still had voice chat, everyone used Ventrilo and Teamspeak instead.Originally posted by Zombie_X View PostSame here but it's different now with online multiplayer. In real life those internet tough guys are probably chubby 12 year olds who eat potato chips and play Modern Warfare 2 all day. If you stay away from the run-of-the-mill FPS games like CoD and Battlefield and go to something like Counter-Strike or StarCraft or any other older game with a more mature audience, then you'll find that most people are fairly polite. Then again most of the people were like 12 when Counter-Strike came out and so now they're all adults and don't waste their time calling people "fags" for accidentally team killing.Originally posted by jimmyjoejangles View PostI just started playing online games like two years ago and am still amazed by the racial slurs and ignorant assholes on there. I report people sometimes or just leave. one time I saw a dude with the name "IKILLBABYJEWS", it was absolutely ridiculous. There are a lot of scumbags out there.Fission mailed.
