I liked Pierce Brosnan, he was the first bond I knew. And what the hell were they thinking with Casino Royal? Texas hold 'em became so popular that they thought it would make a good bond move? They thought wrong.

Ah, it's good to see the old 'Who's the best Bond' debate is as divisive as ever.
It's hard to participate in this without writing an essay length reply but I'll try.
I watched the new Casino Royal on a plane and although I fell asleep part way through it, I got the gist of it. The new guy dosn't really do it for me. It's not that he's a bad actor or his performance is not enjoyable. He just isn't James Bond...
I've seen all the films and read most of the books and one thing that all the James Bonds have been is tall, dark and er, 'handsome'. I don't know if the new guy is handsome (I don't swing that way) but I do know that he's a short, stocky beefcake, with blond hair and blue eyes. It's just not Bond. I predict the next Bond will be rapper 50cent. He will get all 'Gangsta on their asses' and finish most sentences by saying "word".
If they are that desperate for radical new change, then why not just call him 'Secret Agent 700' and start a new series. But of course, they wont do that because the whole point is to continue to leech of the long running success, of the legacy of the 007 name.
EXACTLY! It's another case of taking a product that's already great in its own right and trying to make it more like the latest success 'thing'. It's a bit like RE5 wanting to be more like Gears of War and Bioshock.Three words: The Bond Identity.
In related news, I saw a list of the top 10 'Bond Girls'. My favorite was Famke Janssen as Xenia Onatopp (from 'GoldenEye'). She was so damn cool and deserves her own series of films and videogames! She didn't even make the list!!! Another omission was Fatima Blush from 'Never Say Never Again'.
On the list was Hale Berry! Sure, she's a pretty girl but her action and fight scenes were pathetic. She sucked.

Dalton was the best, his portrayal was more in tune with the novels. I'm not a fan of Roger Moore, he had charisma but I didn't like how laid back and casual it was. Everything was camp, cheesy yet very amusing. Dalton was pretty ruthless, I think he even had his licence to kill revoked by MI6. Been a while since I've seen the Dalton films.See you in hell.

Or if it is a girl, "Jamie Bonda".
But as for the opening theme song, its not too big of an issue, since I don't judge the movie completely based on that. However, most of the Bond themes are done by female singers, and I just feel a girl should have been singing. Having a guy do it sounds weird. It's like they really went away from the Bond formula in this movie. I'm glad I'm not the only who feels Daniel Craig isn't the right Bond.
"The Bond Identity", haha.
So true.

He's up there with Timothy Dalton as my favourite Bond. Why do you think he is so bad, curiously? Is it because he doesn't utilize rubbish one liners every time he dispatches an incompetent henchman?Originally posted by Logical Operand View PostAm I the only who can't stand Daniel Craig as James Bond? He is the worst actor to ever be him.
I really grew tired of the incompetent villains with monorails in their bases, unreal scenarios involving an excessive amount of nuclear warheads and shallow sidekicks. Daniel Craig has given the Bond name some gritty credibility again.
Yes. People should definitely watch movies and base their opinion solely on the opening credits and who is singing on them. How dare they use a male singer! Blasphemy!! How dare they follow in the footsteps of such Bond greats such as 'From Russia With Love', 'Thunderball', 'The Living Daylights', 'Live and Let Die' and 'A View To A Kill' by using a male vocalist!!Originally posted by Logical Operand View PostThe first movie was just awful. They didn't even use a female singer for the opening sequence, the male singing was just lame.
.... I don't know, what are 'they' trying to tell us? I don't remember seeing Daniel Craig naked in that film. I do remember seeing him topless on a beach. Why is that such a dealbreaker for you? James Bond not wearing a SHIRT? This is blasphemy! How dare they ruin my character by taking away his shirt while he's on a beach, in the water! Evil studios!Originally posted by Logical Operand View PostAnd the first movie to have a naked-Bond scene? What are they trying to tell us?

And this is your friendly reminder that if you can't discuss Bond nicely, ladies and gents, you can't discuss Bond at all.
Or continue breathing, once my Moon-Based Rail Gun is operational. Now excuse me. I need to locate an evil looking white cat.

Xenia might've been excluded 'cause she was a bond villain and not a bond girl?Originally posted by Skunky View PostIn related news, I saw a list of the top 10 'Bond Girls'. And Never Say Never Again might've been excluded for being a bit of an abomination in terms of origin, name and rights.

I reject your technicality fueled objections! (however accurate they may be)Xenia might've been excluded 'cause she was a bond villain and not a bond girl?
And Never Say Never Again might've been excluded for being a bit of an abomination in terms of origin, name and rights.
I think Pussy Galore was on the list and she was a villain... Well, she was a villain until Bond shagged her. Then she was all like, "Oh, James...". Xenia was one chick Bond couldn't tame. He wasn't man enough for her.
I liked 'Never Say Never Again'. I remember it being very entertaining. Although it's been a long, long time since I last saw it.
I agree with Mr.Spencer that Moore was too campy. I thought he was okay though. My old man hates Moore and likes Connery. I agree that Connery was better. I liked Dalton and Bronson too. I thought Bronson had really made the role his own (until he quit).
