  • A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)

Not sure if there's any nightmare fans here, but I'm curious to know what you all think about the new Freddy Krueger? http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0355097/

Personally, I think Haley will do a great job as the new Freddy. He definitely looks the part...and there's just something really creepy about his appearance. The rest of the cast is a bit disappointing though. It looks like all PD did was pick from a list of CW actors.

I've read the script...and it's really bad...the dreams and death scenes are interesting though.

    Your thoughts?

Yeah, it definitely won't be the same without Robert Englund

I'm a big fan of the original so I'm naturally wary of this.

I wonder if they've increased the cast so there can be more deaths.

He's not too happy about it and I don't blame him.

but i really wouldnt be to happy either, something that been a big part of movie history is being remade and 2/3rds of remakes turn out to be complete shit.

I'll keep an open mind, but I can't imagine this turning out to be an effective film nearly the same way the original was. Unfortunately at best, it'll probably just end up like the Friday the 13th remake- not great in any way, but not too bad- just there. What Nightmare on Elm St. has going for it is that the concept in itself is horrifying, but the execution of the first one was great, Freddy was the perfect bogeyman. Glen's (Johnny Depp) death was so frightening when I saw it that for a while I didn't sleep supine. I can see that showing up in the remake.

nooo they shouldnt remake this movie, especially without Englund, you could do that with other slashers because they never spoke and wear masks, they could be anyone underneath, you can't do that with Freddy

I do wonder if they're going to keep the nightmares and stuff. It'd be interesting to see how they do Glen's. I imagine it'd be CGi, which sucks.

if they do Glen's death in CGI I will never watch this movie
