making a MV need help

im trying to make an MV but sadly i cannot use virtual dub to make clips to use in sony vegas pro 9.0.

are there any other movie editing softwares out there that are free at least? or any software i can use to make clips out of huge files?

virtualdub keeps saying it cannot find codecs for divx even though i have the latest codec

Dare I suggest Microsoft's Movie Maker not sure if can decode divx though can't hurt to try.

it can but sadly the new version does noy allow clips and i cannot use the old one cause all vidoe stutter

hmm you could try asking around at http://www.videohelp.com/ there good with stuff like that or alternatively searching for software on download.com or filehippo.com
