Tron Legacy

I haven't seen the original movie so I can't compare. I loved Tron Legacy though. It's very entertaining and most of all it's not too cheesy.

I grew up with the original movie (my dad gave my brothers and I a strong dose of 80's movies when we were younger) but still haven't seen Legacy. I'm going with my dad soon though.

I also couldn't help it, but during one of the scenes where a couple of CLU troopers gets thrown down from a platform and derezz/shatter as they hit the ground... I just couldn't help but think of "Top Secret." I laughed.

It's PG here, but when i went to see it there was no one in the audience younger than mid-teens.

Disney seems to be throwing a lot of money into promoting this for young kids which in my opinion is just the wrong target audience, i hope this doesn't blow any chances of further movies.

What was the age rating of this movie in other regions?

I was kinda surprised to see it rated only 7+ here, given how there are on-screen derezzing and plenty of other stuff that could've warranted a PG/T-ish rating.

I expected ... let's see ... two hours of entertainment and a sequel to a cheesy 80s flick full of bad (good at the time) CG, blue screen and post-processing.

What I got was nearly two hours of amazing audio, knife sharp imagery and design, sweet camera handling, and more. All of this strung together by a story that was... well... actually much better than expected. Only "letdown" was how CLU's face kinda looked a bit too "clean/smooth" in motion.

What was kinda hilarious was that they showed a 3D version of the new Pirates trailer before the movie... which was kinda awkward, considering how that's a movie shot on regular film and converted to 3D (which was friggin' way too obvious in the trailer, seeing as everything looked like some creepy pop-up book or cardboard stand in motion.)

I agree with everything said here, including the Pirates comment CLU's face did look impressive at times, but the brief moments where it all slipped away and became blindingly obvious that it was CGI ruined the illusion, but really that's just a minor niggle, the film itself was really good! I'm hoping for more, but Disney seems to be throwing a lot of money into promoting this for young kids which in my opinion is just the wrong target audience, i hope this doesn't blow any chances of further movies.

the only movie next that i want to see in 3D is The Hobbit. only because Jackson's isn't using any fusion camera bullshit. he's using at least 30 RED Epic cameras that have an "epic" 5K resolution, up to 120fps, HDRx (the highest dymanic range of any digital cinema camera ever made). and they are cable free, even while working in stereo. now that all sounds groovy to me. plus, its being filmed in New Zealand once again, after a long battle with the Screen Actors Guild.

eh... i think i'd rather see Jeff Bridges in True Grit than this movie.

This movie + 3D + Cinema Sound on 11 = Movie Experience of the Year. Fact. Period. Finale.
(Inception might've been a great "ZOMG MOVIE OF THE YEAR" candidate, but it's not really the type of movie I cared much for seeing at the cinema)

It's been prepared for BluRay release and it's even been shown on HDTV, it's just a matter of waiting. Obvious times would be around the release of Legacy in cinemas or DVD/BR.

Well yeah that or a double movie pack, nice!
