If you were nervous the latest chapter in the X-Men franchise might disappoint, I’m happy to report it’s a huge home-run. Everything from the great script to the awesome performances by the entire cast (with special mention to James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender) makes this X-Men film my favorite in the franchise.

Total Film: 4/5 stars

A classy edition to the X-series that expertly establishes a hoard of characters, navigates a Cold War plot and squeezes a tear for a friendship failed. Dream-team casting and quality FX make this the summer blockbuster to beat.

Indeed, I'm looking forward to the film too. I just hope that this prequel series doesn't go 'X-3' on us.

Because that was a really bad point of no return.

It feels like the Superman Returns of the X-men films. Flowing very loosely with continuity I expect a fare share of retcons from the film canon just based on the characters alone.

Well, they already had a retcon in Origins. Emma showed up there meeting Charles and the rest of the gang as kids...I wouldn't expect to much from this film as far as faith to the timeline.

Yeah I think they're trying to undo the events of Origins now with Singer back on board.
