Don't Look Now was such a creepy movie. Especially the tension that just builds and builds until the ending!

For anyone looking for some horror movies this Halloween, and have some time to kill, I highly recommend watching "Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments". (Bravo used to play it every year, but now they're too busy playing housewives and runway crap...) The special counts down and discusses some of the best scary movies with all the directors/writers/etc there to talk about them. I found a lot of new, great movies to watch because of this list! And even if you've seen most of these, it's still fun to revisit them and hear other people's thoughts. It's also fun to try and guess the number one scariest movie as you watch the countdown. It's a very smart choice, in my opinion. ;)

You can find the whole special in parts; here is the first part counting down 100-76.

    Enjoy!

I'm usually laughing at them too, but I do sometimes get startled with sudden jump scares that I may not have expected and I always found the bee scene in Candyman and Carnival of Souls to both be sort of like that or just giving an awkward feeling.

I did end up watching Paranormal Activity recently and nearly fell asleep the entire time. So aside from those as a kid, haven't really been scared by them.

I tend to find them more interesting than anything, such as the South Korean ones called "Truck", "Black House" or even re-watching Dario Argento's films because a lot of normal romance or comedy, rom-com types just get so sickenly sweet, cutesy and bloody boring as.

Am I the only person who doesn't get scared of these so called 'scary' movies? Seriously I was raised on the horror genre growing up and nothing scares me at all even these ones that are rated 'to scary for cinemas' and crap like that i'm either laughing at them or I fall asleep because nothing horror wise happens but then again when have any of these new age horror movies being scary?

That's pretty much what I thought. I found the music video amusing and the reactions to it too the same.

It wasn't really the bees that did it, more like the sudden surprise of seeing the bees come out of him that did it at the age I saw it.

Words cannot describe how much I love that video and song after I stumbled upon this. And it isn't scary at all like some of the commenters say, or maybe I'm just neutral to those things now. xD It's more clever and artistic to me than gross or scary.

I hear you on Candyman too, bees just worried me as a kid. Now, not so much because of a certain Nic Cage film. xD

Anyway, I think two I saw as a child got me a little bit.

Candyman may have been one, I remember when Helen meets him and the bees come out of his eyes, mouth or something but I can't remember much else than that.

There was also an old one from the 60s, 1962 I think called Carnival of Souls. The guy coming out of the goddamn water and suddenly appearing at the windows. DX

I think Carpenter said he was influenced by Carnival of Souls with the guy appearing in/at the windows and did that with Halloween.

I can't remember much because I saw these probably when I was about five or six.

3D Cinema should consider revisiting The Ring

I took AMCTV's "What Movie Monster Are You?" quiz and got "Satan (The Omen)" as a result! Serves me right for picking all the charming, smoothly deceptive answers. ..

I knew I had to check out The Mist when I read that it inspired not only Silent Hill, but Half-life! It's pretty decent. Like Alexia said, the human aspect is far scarier than the monsters. It's also why I liked the War of the Worlds remake. The mob mentality of people made the movie very scary.

Same here. Nothing has unnerved me more than Silent Hill. I lost a lot of sleep when first playing those games!

I'm not too afraid of clowns either, but I do understand why people are. They.. just.. look creepy, I guess? Like you said, clowns tend to piss me off more than scare me. When I was 3 yrs. old, my aunt hired a clown for my birthday party, but the clown was drunk. I think that set the course for my attitude on clowns.. Good times.. ..

Honestly, it's never a safe bet to say that concepts in Stephen King adaptations are "better explained in the book." Again, guy has ideas that just germinate in the mind (for me, anyway), but sometimes that's at the expense of coherency.

I cannot stand clowns, but I am not afraid of them. I find them more-so annoying than anything, and they always look extremely tacky to me. I guess it also stems from the fact that I don't really find slap-stick comedy the least bit funny.

Clowns are terrifying, no doubt about that. But I guess it's hard for me to look past the silliness of the movie, because I tend to be a bit nit-picky when it comes to scary movies. -And it may also be because I am not the biggest fan of Stephen King movies, other than The Shining and The Mist. ^^'..

While on the subject of It, I actually watched that this past weekend. I remember my parents watching it when I was about four, and I remember the clown bothered me (Mainly because Pennywise had those demonic moments with the scary teeth; in his regular form, he didn't much bother me even as a child).

I liked the general premise of It, but think it would have done much better if the whole giant spider thing was avoided. I know the book explains better what It actually is, but I think for the sake of television, I would have rather It just to have been a demonic clown that eats children. Excellent performance by Tim Curry; I read somewhere that most of the actors were afraid to be around him on the set because he was too realistic in the role for them.

The movie definitely bothered me when I was younger, but honestly, I love it now. I actually wanted to see more Pennywise than what I did.

    Event Horizon.

The movie scared the hell out of me so bad the first time I've seen it as a little boy.

So frightening that I had to read a small magazine for the rest of the movie in order to avoid getting nightmares from it. And when that movie ended, I personally made a vow to myself to NEVER watch that movie again.

The only reason I wanted to watch it in the first place was because Sam Neill was on the cover. (Back then I was a bit of a Jurassic Park buff...)

I do, however, find it quite ironic that Event Horizon was directed by the same person who did the Resident Evil films.
