But gun crime statistics don't show that there's greater security with an armed populace...Originally posted by Ununoctium View Post"Those who trade freedom for security deserve neither" -Thomas Jefferson

Oh really? Then why is it a proven fact and supported by statistics that states with the highest number of gun owners and the less strict anti-freedom laws have the lowest crime rate (including the lowest gun crime rate). Problem, terrorists?Originally posted by TheSelfishGene View PostBut gun crime statistics don't show that there's greater security with an armed populace...
I see you have ran out of ways to defend your claims and have instead reverted to pointless off-topic replies for the sole purpose of increasing your post count and insulting the participants in the thread.Originally posted by Mr. Spencer View PostThis is one of the worst fucking threads ever made.Last edited by Ununoctium; 11-19-2011, 06:59 PM.Fission mailed.

That wasn't very informative. Please, for the sake of personal amusement and a continuing journey towards comprehension, try again. A little more juice this time. I don't feel like I'm being educated at a ... satisfying level.
Also, why guns anyway? Why do you care?

Why do I care? Why do I care? How dare you ask such a question...Originally posted by Carnivol View PostAlso, why guns anyway? Why do you care?
Why do I care about anything? Because I love freedom and democracy and all of the things that make America so great. I love my small government and I love my right to bear arms, I love my right to defend myself, I love my right to be free from a tyrannical government. I love my country, I love my culture, I love the Constitution, and I love liberty. That is why I care.
Now tell me, Mr. European, why do you care?Last edited by Ununoctium; 11-19-2011, 07:07 PM.Fission mailed.

Truth be told: I don't
Freedom of speech? I dunno ... Maybe it's because there's a guy gushing dangerously patriotic tears on my forums about how he loves "freedom", self-defense, guns and his country to the fullest, but yet does seemingly not have any faith or belief in its elected government officials, its political system and the decisions that're seemingly being democratically made on his own behalf?Originally posted by Ununoctium View PostWhy do I care? Quite frankly, I find this quite alarming.

You're comparing states within the United States - so it doesn't even really matter that you didn't cite the statistics... An effective comparison would have been between a country where citizens have a right to bear arms (ie. The United States) VS nearly anywhere else. If you do that (using United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime report from 2000, say) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_violence#Homicide (I know it's wikipedia - check the primary source if you don't believe it).Originally posted by Ununoctium View PostOh really? Let's compare the USA and Canada.
USA has roughly 3x the overall homicide rate, and approximately two homicides commited with guns for every one which isn't.
Canada has approximately two non-firearm related homicides to every firearm homicide.
There's also this fom the wikipedia article
And I realise that there's hundreds of other ways to define 'security'. This was the first I could think of and the easiest to find stats forThe United States has the highest rate of gun related injuries (not deaths per capita) among developed countries, though they also have the highest rate of gun ownership and highest rate of officers.sigpic

Obama isn't my elected official. I never voted for a socialist, and I never will. So that rules out the majority of the Democratic Party as well.Originally posted by Carnivol View PostFreedom of speech? I dunno ... What claims? You on the other hand seem to do care about post count, as all I've seen from you is the same politico nonsense repeated ad infinitum.See you in hell.

Well, most of your country voted for him, he's what the American people wanted. Democracy is funny like that.Originally posted by Ununoctium View PostObama isn't my elected official. I never voted for a socialist, and I never will. So that rules out the majority of the Democratic Party as well.

You seem to have forgotten to take into account that crime is caused by a lot of factors, and guns aren't even one of those factors. Poverty, drug prohibition, a failed prison system, gangs (which are created because of poverty and drug prohibition), and unemployment are chief among said factors.
And now everyone who voted for him and everyone who didn't both agree on one thing, they want him and his socialism gone.Originally posted by alexdz View PostWell, most of your country voted for him, he's what the American people wanted. Call me uninformed, but I'm pretty sure that putting a bullet in a guy is under most circumstances considered a crime.Originally posted by Ununoctium View PostYou seem to have forgotten to take into account that crime is caused by a lot of factors, and guns aren't even one of those factors.

OK, cowboy, under what circumstances do you so desperately need a gun for self-defense?
When someone else points a gun at you? Is that it? 'Cause I see an easier way out of that issue than goin' all Texas and waiting for a third party to shout draw...
