Is it possible to view or extract the 'invisible' geometry from classic RE games???
Of course it is not possible without manual recreation.
You can only extract boundaries and camera angles because that is what is stored on the games but definitely not the whole Softimage scenes that were used to render the .BSS files.
Hey guys, I'm so sorry to bump this up again...but I would like to ask user 'BiohazardFE', where did you find that image that you original posted of the Tiger Room from RE1 may I ask???
That's a fan recreation, IIRC made by Leo2336. Of course, collision data in RE1-2-3 don't look anything like that so they're kinda useless.

Well, I was actually wanting the original boundaries in geometry form as I plan to do something inhopes (if they do exist or are exactly as I imagine them) with them
Do you have any idea yourself perhaps to get something like this as posted previously?:
You could do away with getting the exact boundaries and just use RE2CE to draw the boundaries yourself. It shouldn't be too hard as you have precise camera values to work with.
Okay then, well guys I thought I would finally give it a try, and I got both RE2CE and RE2BCC.
I can honestly say that I had more success with RE2CE as I am able to open up a .RDT with it and import its cameras into 3ds max, HOWEVER there is absolutely no option for me to import anything otherwise (except this 'Switch Zone' which I have no idea about), so only the cameras are what was imported into 3ds max.
I have also tried RE2BCC, and I am almost completely lost with it, it just gives me a lot of boundary diagrams but nothing 3d wise which I have hoped for in RE2CE.
Now I am wondering and to ask once again, how do I use these softwares effectively or to extract the boundary geometry???
Haven't looked into the program myself but that's what BiohazardFE was saying earlier. This program will extract the invisible geometry into a format 3Ds Max can interpret. At least I think that's what he was saying.
I tried RE2CE and exported well a camera set to 3DS Max, but, it only shows cameras. What I don´t understand is how to get the wireframe representation of the background itself, like it´s been shown on the image posted above. It would be great if I´d be able to re-export and convert those wireframe lines into actual poly geometry, so I´d be able to create a full 3D map of RE2 and also add a travelling camera to create something like this: (but with RE2 locations)
Ahhh...! I've had a very similar idea to yours! I still want to see if this is somewhat possible, very well knowing aware that they are only 2D images on the disc.
That's just a fly-through render created by Capcom of the backgrounds they created. That data doesn't exists on the discs, only somewhere at Capcom.
They create a complete scene/room in a 3D modelling program, pick a camera angle, render that background and then create the base geometry that is essentially transparent and overlayed onto that background image they rendered out. A lot like green screening in movies really.
I was about to say the same thing, I really hope that Capcom still has the original materials! Hasn't anyone contacted them about this by any chance???
Yeah, it was actually to give an idea on what I´d want to do with RE2 backgrounds in a 3D software, can´t yet though, since I can´t figure out how to get the background geometries instead of only the cameras.
So (as I originally asked), is it possible OR how do you extract the background geometries like in the image posted above???
