Yeah, the Raptors in the DC games were more like a Deinonychus than a Velociraptor. They were about 2/5 the size of a Velociraptor. Jurassic Park also had oversized Raptors, but those could be chalked up to a genetic mutation caused by using frog DNA to fill in the Raptors Genome.

It can't be chalked up to that because of the film's very opening.
It wouldn't really matter too much to me, they could just use the same size raptors from the past games and called them the generic "Raptor" term instead of "Velociraptor" and it would work. If they had to though, they could just change the species to Deinonychus or Utahraptor and it'd suffice since they're around the size of a human.
If we're talking sizes though, I'm surprised no one has mentioned how massive the Giganotosaurus was in DC2 when compared to the Rex.

Basically Jack Horner fucked up.
He didn't. I had the absurdly detailed Making of Book when I was young when the film came out. It discusses the very fact the Stan Winston crew had to decide on a size, and went with one that looked more threatening by having Raptors close to head height with humans and much bigger than the kids. I believe secondly it helped when they also could put full sized performers in the Raptor suits too.
Horner and others told them it was oversized, then as production was happening the Utahraptor was first found and the Winston team felt their size was really justified by it. In fact the Utahraptor was first supposed to be classed "Utahraptor spielbergi" :p
Capcom should have Regina as main character, to capitalize on today's feminist militants!
Dino Crisis 2 showed that it was viable to do a fixed angle camera game with fast pacing and tons of action. Too bad no one gives two fucks about prerendering anymore.
Would you have Regina & Rick going back to rescue Dylan though or bypass that part completely?
I don't see how they could exspand it enough to make a decent story, it'd be a rush job like re0 and i'm not all that bothered to replay parts of dc2's setting, Regina already knows Dylan's exact location so unless Rick and Regina crash off course "too far stretched imo" when going back it'd be a 10min pickup at best anyway.
DC2's ending was stupid, it would made more sense for just Dylan to get trapped and Regina & Paula to escape, he only went back to save his daugher anyway so having him die in the process would of made more sense.
Ahh, I'd heard something different, that Horner suggested the large size because of the Utahraptor, and confused it with Velociraptor. Incidentally...
They issued a recolor with The Lost World line, and it was generally just larger and bulkier than the Velociraptor.
(I owned shitloads of those toys as a kid)
I had heard the same story, but the book seems to contradict this. If it's true at all, unless Horner was suggesting it entirely off the foot found in 1991, a complete one wasn't found until in 1993 when the film had been shot and was about to be released as well which lowers the chances.
Here is the Stan Winston School's blog about having guys inside the suits, which was the other part of the making of book's explanation towards the size in order to have a crouched human inside.
I also had some of those figures. The raptor's batteries lasted for so long, when travelled back home a few years ago and found one of them in a box of stuff - the noise still worked, had never changed the batteries once. Never did quite understand the "ehyaaaaa-yeeeeeeeehhhhhaaaaaa" sound it was given over a regular jumping screech or the "barking" thing they did in the films though. :p

These were fucking boss back in the day.
A friend of mine had the command compound set with electric fences and what not. I had the T-rex that came with a guy in a cage that he could swallow whole (which you could then retrieve through a slit in his belly).

Being that it's supposedly meant to be released as a reboot and not a sequel to one of the earlier games, we may not even have Regina back (sadly). Although Dino Crisis 2 ended with a cliffhanger and they should probably leave us with a definitive conclusion instead of just abandoning the original story completely. Although Dino Stalker (also released as Gun Survivor 4) was kind of like a sequel (but just with this Mike Wired guy in place of Regina), it's still not a numbered part of the series being that it was only a spin off entry. So to end the series and start again without really ending the original series would be a joke.
Series like Silent Hill for example are not really proper sequels. The only sequel to the original Silent Hill was 3 because that interconnected. But the others were not really linked that much, just like Dino Crisis 3 was crap and had NOTHING to do with the first two games.
I love Dino Crisis 1, I still play it to this day, It has great replay value, I used tranquilizer shots a lot, it was my most used weapon...I wish the game returns...
It actually didn't. By Regina travelling to the present with the perfect gate timetravel knowledge the events at the end of the game would be prevented.

I never used the darts and I think now I'll go back and play DC 1 and 2 because I have guides for both.
