I had to chuckle when I read this article today. The 15 most annoying video game characters ever:
Ashley comes in at no.12
Personally, I think it's a bit harsh. She was annoying and I WAS relieved when she was recaptured so I could continue on my own but I thought she added to the gameplay and mixed things up a bit. It was also cute how she wanted to get into Leon's pants.

Steve and Alfred are still at the top of my list (for RE characters) and I'd also add the Ivan Twins from RE-UC.Comment

mmmmm the most annoying character... Rebecca, she's so weak!!!!! if she gets bitten by a zombie she is on Danger(RED) i hate her!!! thatss why half of the game i did it with billy, i left rebbeca waiting for me a bunch of times!!! and... c'mon she's 18 years old!!!!!!!!! why she's a STARS???? they should be an age restriction!!!!
But, the most annoying to me was Ashley!!!!!! when i played the first time, and i managed to get ashley free from the church i tought: finally, i´m not all alone, she will help me!!! i wass way wrong!!! she constatnly gets carried away by the villagers and not even kick them on their b*lls, it´s like she wanted to be kidnapped!!! and then, it was hard to triyng to shot the ganados beacuse, if you miss by an inch you hit ashely and instantly killed her!!!! she has no self-perservation instinct!!!!!!Comment

- Does he interrogate every zombie that breaks in first?
- The Outbreak's been going on for a week. Does he not notice that not only is Claire not bloody and pale, she's carrying a weapon and has no trouble opening doors?
- Why does he wait until a survivor comes in before he locks the door?
- Why the hell does he reserve the crossbow for himself? That weapon sucks!
- Why doesn't he have those anti-break-in bars in front of the windows? It's a gun shop! I'd be very suprised if he hasn't gotten robbed before.
- What kind of cheap glass is that anyways? The zombies practically walked into it when it shattered.
And just for the hell of it, I'll include Claire, just because she's one of my least favourites.Comment

Kendo from RE2 would also be my first choice.
Unfortunately, everything worth commenting on his character has been taken.
Another honorable mention from the same game would be that nameless police officer from B-Mission that somehow managed to get owned by two zombies when he had a machine-gun!
Not only did he get eaten by the said zombies, but he also managed to shoot an nearby helicopter pilot dead. Thereby causing a helicopter crash and in general creating a great deal of destruction.

But Miss Sin, the horrible truth is that there really are girls like Ashley. She's the president's daughter, so she's probably led a very protected life. I've known girls who would scream like an idiot and say, "LEEEOOON!!!" if faced with similar dangers.
Thankfully, the series also has many strong, kick ass, female characters (kick ass babes rule ). Jill, Claire, Ada, Alexia, Fong and Alyssa are the 'ying' to Rebecca, Sherry, Cindy and Ashley's 'yang'...
