RE2 Leon wasn't amazing but RE4 Leon is just ugh. Degeneration Leon, from what I've heard and seen so far, is just outright terrible character direction.

Agreed. RE2 Leon was kind of a dullard, but I attributed his goofiness (bad dialogue, falling for a scandalous untruthful woman) to the B-Movie roots of the series.

RE4 and RE: Degen place 10 years of videogame storytelling & craftmanship between themselves and RE2. Yet this "uber-cool-super-suave-ninja-agent-James-Bond-ladies-man-Solid-Snake" ripoff is the best they could come up with?

Sad thing is, from what I've seen in the trailers for Degen, RE4 Leon actually looks like less of a douche than his CGI film representation. I actually fear for the minds of the audience of future installments of Leon and the developer's quest to try and make him a walking, talking human embodiment of what they think is "cool."

To me, they have struck out and instead created something "ridiculous."

Don't over-dramatize. The only reason the argument lasted weeks was because the forum was down for weeks so I kinda had to wait.
Besides, the argument was more you saying shit then me countering it and you telling me to get the hell out.

He's nothing like Bond or Snake. Bond wouldn't turn down sex with a girl because of another girl in his heart and Snake isn't one for joking.

Besides, there's only so much plot depth you can expect from an RE game. It does have B-movie roots and those roots extend into each and every RE game. They will continue to extend into RE5 and beyond.

Also "what they think is cool" IS cool according to many people.

Degen looks like shit from what I've seen, and Leon isn't the only rip-off in that movie judging by the trailer.

And BH4 Leon is far from cool. What do people see in Leon that is cool? I'd really like to know because he's so goddamned 2-D that it's impossible for me to see anything left of what the characters become.
