  • Rebel_FM claims the RE5 demo is nothing like the real thing.

The commentators who played the first half the game say that it's unfair to judge the game by the demo. They also say the sections featured in the demo feel insignificant compared to the rest of the game and are hardly memorable at all, and that the demo doesn't show off the more "Resident Evil" aspects such as exploration and puzzle solving that are in the full game. They also said the design around co-op play really pushes the game forward and makes it a vastly different experience from RE4 and is the only way to really play the game.

oh thank god! *phew* i really hope there right, cause i was worried that RE5 was gonna be crap.

and yeah, it seems Coop is going to far overshadow single player mode.

so there's chance RE5 can beat RE4 still, i hope.

The heavy reliance on the co-op mechanics seems like a real mistake to me, as RE has always been really a one player game deal and if the entire game is going to really be hampered if you want to play it that way ( one player ) and not the way the game is kind of forcing you to play it as, I can see a lot of fans turned off by 5 just on that alone.

I don't think the reliance on co-op play will cripple the game for people playing it by themselves. Look at a games like Halo or Metal Slug; they're games that feature co-op but aren't really co-op games if that makes any sense. The other players are merely extra guns to aid the first player; there aren't any mechanics that emphasize actual team work between the players. Even so, it's always way more fun to play those games with two people than simply by yourself. Now look at RE5, a game that truly emphasizes co-op and imagine how much the game will benefit by being played with two people. I have no doubt RE5 will be incredible even if it's being played single player, but it's pretty much a rule of thumb that games that offer co-op are always more fun with co-op than without.

anyways, yeah i prefere single player games to Coop, i like Coop, but single player is my favorite, especially in Horror games.

All these new news things need to stop getting me EVEN MORE EXCITED. Every time I think I am at my peak of excitement, something has to prove me wrong. XD This sounds so promising, especially since I loved what the demo featured.

That's good news, since I'm less than thrilled with the RE5 settings. I'm sure capcom will change it all, just for me. Them incorporating parts of my precious Outbreak into the main title has my interest.

Me too. Anyone remember how horror games were meant to be played alone (hence, Alone in the Dark was born)? By forcing Sheva with you the whole time, that deviates a lot from scariness. This is all relative, but RE4 actually beat RE5 simply by being alone a lot of the time. Not to say RE4 is good, just better than RE5.

You want to play a fun action game with four people instead of two with hundreds of enemies storming you? Left 4 Dead.

I could argue horror is achieved by playing a WEAK protagonist with lousy weapons against dangerous odds. Horror is also achieved with fixed cameras that set up a cinematic like mood. Coop is about the last variable possible to make a game not scary.

Co-op definately makes the game more fun, and alot more tense, which is what they should be aiming for with the new gameplay system which is more action-oriented. They can't keep the old horror feel of the old games anymore, they need to move on. This wasn't realised with RE4, but they've nailed it with RE5.

My point exactly. Or in RE's case, a group of trained specialists in a totally extraordinary, horrific situation. Or, like with RE2, yeah. If not weak, then inexperienced at least.

What's more tense: Getting swarmed by zombies (or in this case, majinis) all alone or having someone to watch your back so you don't have to worry about what's behind you?

I enjoyed the demo obviously they wouldnt be the best stages of the game but one the less it's the most time I've ever spent on a demo and it smashed the demo download charts beating Star Wars to a bloody pulp. If these two stages are the worst the game has to offer then it's gonna be a damn good game.

Babysitting is a real bitch in any game because it takes one wrong move on the AI's part, and the whole game can get shot to shit because of a glitch. Ugh.
