    oh i love discussing sales.

RE1 was on the PS1, PC, and the Sega Saturn, so it must of made some money from that as well, and RE DS certainly does count.

also it must have sold something on the PSN as well, anyways, there both neck and neck, but im hoping RE1 comes out on top.

anyways, opinion polls are always wrong anyway, most of IGN probably have never even played a classic RE game.

That really wasn't a dispute, just a fact check. Sales don't account to quality most of the time, but there are exceptions as few as they may be.

The MK games last gen. ended up being the best selling fighter alongside the DBZ ones, outselling the likes of TTT, T5 and the two versions of VF4. They certainly weren't quality games as there hasn't been a decent MK since 1996.

    If we're going by sales...
The best album of all-time is Michael Jackson's Thriller.
The best movie of all-time is Titanic.
The best game of all-time is Super Mario Bros.

...oh wait, what are those, opinions?

    Right, I forgot.

Agreed. Just because one game sells more than another doesn't make it the best game.
    I agree!
But the sales figures are interesting. I guess we're going off topic...

REmake/REbirth is a separate thing IMO.
But Deadly Silence is close enough to the original (with some adjustments) to be considered a port (IMO) and therefore could be included in the overall RE1 sales.

Ok RE2 sold a bit more than RE1, case closed... But I still prefer RE1

So if we consider RE2 Dreamcast and GC sales data we have to consider also RE DS and REbirth (GC and Wii) sales data? or not?

Can one of you wise guys make up a new list of all the game's totals, please?
(like I tried on the other thread but with more and newer sales data)
It would actually make an interesting sticky topic and could be edited when new data becomes available.

Could even include a fancy graph... they always look nice.

350K in the US according to the NPD.. but let's just say it totaled 500K worldwide since the N64 was pretty much a dead cause in Japan and Europe.

Every bit counts, so the belated DC and GC ports would've added a small chunk as well to the totals.

    Verdict= 5.250.000 (RE1) > 5.220.000 (RE2)

there are also 200.000 units sold by RE Deadly Silence, but according to ClarenDevlin they don't count LOL
You're missing the N64 RE2 (which as of 2001, had 350,000 in the US). The GC and DC versions would have at least sold through 100K worldwide each, so that put RE2 well ahead of RE1.

Then there are the respective PC versions of all titles, but again, the overall figures add up to RE2's advantage. Even if you add say... 100K to RE DS.
