When he refers to the "reboot" hes talking about how in a recent interview the creators were quote to saying they were going to "reboot" RE style in RE6.Originally posted by adamthegrave View PostReboot? you mean turning into Gears of war? wow you really know what your saying
...not , so what going to be in the next game chainsaw guns? oh yea the muscle you mean taking some diet shakes pulling a rocky 4 training yea so cool . they could gave the same but little built not 80's hulk hogan . lol yea i could see that happen , and i see why shinji wont play it , they should gave chris a rip off Rambo outfit to wear in that game
Its unclear what they mean by that, but one can only hope it means returning to the roots!

I think the developers were stuck between a rock and a hard place by the success of RE4. That doesn't excuse them for not changing much, but they still tried to keep the controls and action "spirit" of RE4.Originally posted by TheOvermind001 View PostI agree, RE4 is where this mess started. But RE5 doesn't clean up the mess it left behind, it makes it worse.
They revised the "Sherry" thing in the most recent update to Wesker's report, omitting the line where he claims to have Sherry. So she is basically in limbo just like so many other RE characters.I don't know... in Wesker's report he had Sherry. They completely didn't even acknowledge that. All im saying is it could be a lot more creative than *insert random 90s action movie* where the terrorists are trying to take over the world.
As for "terrorist trying to take over the world" thing...yes, it is redundant, but that's the plot of many things nowadays. I felt Wesker's M.O. was at least better than Saddler's "Pinky & the Brain" plan.
I've never played Gears of War so I can't comment. I again think that RE5 was fucked due to RE4's success. Either way, I think Capcom has realized that the RE4 formula is not true to the RE franchise, hence their opting for some kind of reboot.I just played Gears of RE. Not Resident Evil. RE4 was a fun game, but it was an anomaly and an experiment in the RE game style and it should have stayed that way.
Well, Capcom can't please everyone. I mean, going with what you said, they should have included every single RE character ever in Mercs. They can't please everyone. Why wouldn't you want to play with them? There is no reason not to have them in the game. I don't understand your argument here.
And I wouldn't want to play as Leon. I never want to again after his douchebaggery in RE4.
Again, they can't please everyone. Did you have this same massive uproar when "all the characters" didn't show up in RE4 Mercs? Why should there be a trade off at all? Just give the fans what they want for buying the damn game and include all the characters.
As for your sentiments about HUNK - I think he is awesome as well. I'd have loved to see him in RE5 Mercs, but he isn't there. So I just accepted it.
I never said it was "the scariest moment in RE history." I said it was the freakiest level. You know if that level was in an older RE game with the tank controls, that level would have you crapping your pants. And I definitely don't think that was the scariest moment of RE history.
I personally think they've butchered up the Umbrella storyline enough as it is. I honestly believe the franchise needs a fresh start with new characters, a new bioterror, and other new threats. As much as I'd love to see Chris & Jill in some more missions, seeing the Umbrella story retconned in RE0 and REUC makes me feel nauseous.Hells yeah. Its what they should be trying to emulate with a fresh new RE6! Hopefully they can take the story back to the time between code veronica and the events in Umbrella Chronicles and have the anti-umbrella team raid some labs in other parts of the world.
Plus there's the whole fact that I never want to see Leon again. Ever.

It's a very polished and visually stunning action game. A co-op game first and foremost, with the Resident Evil name and characters slapped on top of it. An iteration in the series that is targeted mainly at the Halo generation, with almost no regard for the fans of the "original" Resident Evil. With Wesker's over the top English accent (where the f**k did this come from) I don't know whether to laugh or cry, and I have no idea why Jill's hair is suddenly blonde.
It's starting to feel like a chore going through the game for the unlockables, as there are a ton of areas that completely lack any "survival horror" or anything even remotely scary at all. Puzzles have totally vanished, as is any challenge that would throw your average 18 year old ADHD afflicted Gears of War clone off. The only thing that felt "Resident Evil" for me were the menu sound effects and when you press the start button.
With that said, I put the game down for a bit, and I'm starting up RE2 save on my PS3.

Wesker's accent is a product of Richard Waugh in RECVX, but feel free to blame RE5.Originally posted by Vilmer View PostWith Wesker's over the top English accent (where the f**k did this come from) I don't know whether to laugh or cry, and I have no idea why Jill's hair is suddenly blonde.
Jill's hair color is explained in RE5. But feel free to just blatantly use it as a negative.
All the other "changes" you don't like are a result of the tweaks (?) made by Shinji Mikami in RE4. Since that game, RE is not much at all like its earlier iterations.

I never noticed it before, really. Especially how heavy it's gotten.Originally posted by Jill's Boob View PostWesker's accent is a product of Richard Waugh in RECVX, but feel free to blame RE5.
Ah, I must of missed it while I was dozing off. From the container presumably? I still don't like it, bad choice in the script.Originally posted by Jill's Boob View PostJill's hair color is explained in RE5. But feel free to just blatantly use it as a negative.
RE4 at least put a little effort into the scare factor though. RE was clearly dead when it came out, but there were twinkles of RE, even through the tears playing it. I put that game behind though, maybe I was hoping for a miracle return to RE with part 5.Originally posted by Jill's Boob View PostAll the other "changes" you don't like are a result of the tweaks (?) made by Shinji Mikami in RE4. Accents do change over time, it's not unreasonable for Wesker to have a faint English accent. Canon-wise, he's always had it. It was only different for REmake because when remaking the original game, they wanted to retain the original "feel" and kept the voice actors as close as possible, hence his American accent.I never noticed it before, really. Especially how heavy it's gotten.
No it isn't. Perfectly reasonable.I still don't like it, bad choice in the script.
Right, let's knock on a game for trying to be different for once. RE5 does what it set out to do (create a tense atmosphere and a sense of dread in sunlight) very well, especially in the beginning sections of the game. It does wear off over time, but that happens with every game, especially RE4 which lost it about 1/4 into the game.RE4 at least put a little effort into the scare factor though. RE was clearly dead when it came out, but there were twinkles of RE, even through the tears playing it. I put that game behind though, maybe I was hoping for a miracle return to RE with part 5.
Not to mention the fact that RE5 cleared up the ridiculous mess RE4 left behind, which I must commend the development team for paying careful attention to when developing the game.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

Just because something is explained doesn't excuse it from being unnecessary and stupid. The blonde hair distracted me... instead of being shocked that Jill was under the mask, I was trying to determine if it was actually her.Originally posted by Jill's Boob View PostJill's hair color is explained in RE5. This is what that moment should have had me thinking:
"WTF? Jill? A villain? THIS IS CRAZY!!"
This is what it actually made me think:
"Wait, who is that? Is that really Jill? No, it cant be... she doesn't have blonde hair. Oh wait, Chris just said Jill. Wow, thats kind of dumb, why is she blonde?"
See what I mean?Last edited by TheOvermind001; 03-22-2009, 02:50 AM.
