Also, a satellite laser was indeed used by the Chinese government in Dead Aim. For some reason they used a most outrageous method to assassinate one of their own operatives, rather than just send someone out there to covertly get the job done.
And last but not least, Uroboros Aheri or Lambent Brumak? But which is better?

Why there is certain weapon in certain boss fight
I'm talking about Spoiler:
the fight with Excella (Uroboros Aehi), the most easy way to kill her (and the way the game is ment to be) is using the satelite lasser. Now, you may say: "this is too gears of war" or whatever; but NO! that laser is the one seen in Resident Evil: Dead Aim, a lasser that belonged to the Umbrella Corporation (well... I'm not sure of that, I think it actually belong to a goverment, but MAYBE it was from Umbrella after all), but then when Tricell bought "Umbrella" as a hole, they also aquired that lasser. I hope to have helped if there was any doupt on that weapon. What I also wanted to clarify is that: Resident Evil 5 didn't copy the lasser idea from Gears of War!!! (I now they did, but I like to belive they didn't).
