Ehy Chris me bredda, righteous wit a piece! I still vexed about dat dogheart Wesker, you got some craaaaazy drivin skills to get i and i out of der!

Edit - Cliffy B (Gears of War producer) even stated that he referred to Gears as "Resident Killswitch" for a while when it was in development, due to the gameplay style being a hybrid of RE4 and Killswitch.

I thought it was a cool battle but felt a laser had no place in an RE game no matter what game or movie had it first.

Anyway the whole laser thing was stupid. There's no weapon more powerful in the RE universe than the all-mighty rocket launcher. Just three or four shots of this bad-boy and the hentai-tentacled bitch was gone.

Still I felt RE5 too gearish in that part. I was playing with the same friend who help me finish GoW2 on coop, and we were like... RIPOFF!!!! But there's no deny that every ACTION GAME now-a-days will be compared to Gears of War.
That's really the essence of this thread. Gears of War was such a phenomenal success as an action game, that it really set the bar (Even though it wholly ripped off RE4 in many respects).

I believe GoW took what RE4 did and made it waaaay better. This is probably why most people feel RE5 is so similar to GoW. Even though the controls and some other parts of RE5 felt like a step backwards from what GoW has done.

They're talking about the Hammer of Dawn satellite cannon used on Excella's mutant form. Which was, for me, exceptionally silly. It was sillier when they did it in Dead Aim. The idea that a pharmacutical company would get away with launching a space weapon...yeah.

    I thought that too.
And about what most of you were saying about RE5-GoW: they DID NOT rip off the idea of the satelite lasser from GoW!!!!!!!!! it was already in RE: Dead Aim!!!! the idea was already in the RE univers!!!!!!!!!, sure, the "X (don't remember his name) director/producer" sead that he really liked GoW and that RE5 had lots of inspiration from that game, but that doesn't mean anything!!! that "tecnology" existed in the RE universe since it was there in RE: Dead Aim, now stop making fun of that part if you please

P.S.: for your information: yes, I though the same thing (RE5-GoW) when I saw the satelite lasser part, but after the fight, when I was trying to give it an explanation, I remembered that nice cutscene from RE: Dead Aim
