I never really liked the books. I don't like SD Perry as an author, her writing style is pretty poor. Hated the cliched Trent character. Didn't like how she handled the main characters either, especially all the internal monologues and everyone seemingly secretly fancying each other.
The Umbrella Conspiracy is probably the best one, then Nemesis.
In defence of Perry though, the mythology was a lot less established when she was writing these books so she can be forgiven in some regards.
I wish the RE series would get recommissioned again by a good author. Start from zero and work from there. Hell, even have a completely original novel centring on Marcus, Spencer and George Trevor.

Favorite S.D. Perry books in order.
I just finished reading the last of the S.D. Perry books. I know this thread has been done before but I didnt read all the books then. Now I have and if anyone wants to discuss them post here. I'll list them in order of my favorites first just the get things moving.
7. Code Veronica
6. Zero
5. Underworld
4. Calbian Cove
3. Resident Evil 2
2. Nemesis
1. Resident Evil
POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW IF YOU HAVENT READ THE BOOKS YET.
Spoiler:
I've read the first book twice even though it is based on the original it's still the best of the books by far.
I probably prefer Res2 over Res3 in the games but I think Perry captured the atmosphere better for Nemesis in the books.
I had really low expectations before reading Calbian and Underworld so maybe that's why I enjoyed them so much. I really liked the start of Calbian when the S.T.A.R.S. are hiding out in Barry's house. The book went abit down hill after that but it was still a good read. Underworld has a pretty good story also the B.O.W. monster at the end was quite disapointing but I was really enjoying the book when Leon and John are travelling through the different stages.
Never been a big fan of Zero but I still enjoyed the book. Finally Code Veronica. I was playing through the game again as I read the book. The game has gone way up in my view I really enjoyed it when I played through it again. However the book was very disapointing. The dialouge was totally screwed up and she cut alot of the best parts out. Like when Wesker fights Alexia in the mansion. She totally screwed up that scene. Also right at the end she states Wesker is scared of Trent? Thought that was totally unessescary and the way she portrayed Wesker in the book totaly spoiled it for me.
Bottom line there is 3 great books, 2 mediocore and 2 below average. After reading all 7 though i can say I'm glad I read them and I will definatley be reading them all again as soon as I'm finished reading Stephen King's I.T.Tags: None
