I was disappointed in the last chapter of the CV scenario. It felt like it came too soon - there was so much of the Antarctic base that they left out. I also felt that there needed to be one-character scenarios like Chris on Rockfort and Ada during RE2. But given Capcom's recent hard-on for co-op, I should have assumed the lack of these scenarios.

Meh...y'know....I'd have to say that my expectations were MOSTLY met. My only real disappointment was the ending. But then again...it seems I'm missing some cutscenes for Operation: Javier, so I need to figure out how to get those.
Odd thing is, I actually found myself sympathizing with Steve in this. I mean I hated the guy's guts in C:V, but somehow they made him a not-too-bad character this time around.
The "It's like a damned video game" comment he makes cracked me up to no end.
That said, I do kinda wish they had, y'know, put in a little more in relation to Chris and Wesker...but it really wasn't "their" game, that's what Umbrella Chronicles was for after all.
That said, I'm gonna keep exploring the game though, to keep getting more stuff. Because I did find it to be quite fun, even though I liked UC, I'd say this did one-up it in some departments.

You know, as much as I was initially disappointed with the lack of Chris and Wesker in Game of Oblivion, I actually really liked the ending with Chris and Claire finding "I won this game" etched on the wall with Wesker's STARS knife. While it wasn't as flashy as his exploits in the original game, I felt it perfectly encapsulated his presence and the feud between he and Chris.
Simple but effective.
It also felt more like classic Wesker than his more megalomaniacal interpretation in RE5. To me, anyway.Last edited by Archelon; 11-20-2009, 11:16 PM.

I haven't finished the game yet and like what I see so far. Guess I'm taking this game for what it is worth, a on-rails shooter and love playing 2 and CV again. The shaky cam is annoying but it was talked about before the game came out. I think the game does a lot better job of story telling than UC.

Chris would kill Alexia, could find Wesker's knife, then find Wesker with claire. They fight, then they catch one last glimpse of each other as they take off."I've got 100 cows."
"Well I've got 104 friends."

Character development in RE2 scenario was pretty bad. The original had a lot of characters so for them to be all jammed pack into a short scenario was pretty hard. I'm disapointed that Ada/Leon and Claire/Sherry relationships were not developed at all. It was pretty shallow and so for me, there was no emotional attachment to the characters.
CVX did a lot better of a job since there are only a few characters. Steve is made much more believable and his lines are better than in the original. I actually felt sad that he died (again).
BTW, anyone else find the Chief Irons scene to be EXTREMELY anti-climatic? I was really excited for it but he didn't even scream when the monster was coming out of him. It happened so quickly.

The trailers made it seem as though he was going to have some big role, but then his screen time wasn't any longer than his preview time.

It wasn't until somebody explained to me that the G-embryo just burst out of him. Are they even supposed to mature that quickly once out of the body? If I recall, in the original 2 (and in Outbreak file #2), the ebryo takes a shorter while to develop.

Mass production? Ridiculous!

Also, it bothers me that CV got only 7 chapters while RE2 got 8. CV covered more surface area, yet is reduced to less. Lame. Chris should have been playable for the last two chapters; an extra one should have included more of the Antarctic base.Mass production? Ridiculous!

The game just totally washed over me and left me feeling irked in place.
From the initial astoundedness of seeing Resident Evil 2 from a first person perspective was totally ruined by an absolute clusterfuck of storytelling ability after the half way mark. Hunk's legendary sequence from RE2 was reduced to a joke of a cutscene, Annette was given an inane and bizarre subplot where she tries to kill Birkin and the whole fighting the Mr. X around the blast furnace was set piece too far and ruined the simplicity of tricking it into the lava pit (or Ada's sacrifice).
CODE: Veronica wasn't bad, but I at least thought they'd give us a seperate Chris scenario, lacking pretty much his whole role through the game, and Wesker? Silly stupid changes ruined this scenario for me too, Alexia killing Alfred totally - totally - fucks the whole sibling aspect the original encapsulated perfectly. The whole reason Alexia goes completely ape-shit berserk is because the moment she awakenes she finds her brother in dying before her.
Meh, it was fun, and as much as I loved the shaky cam, it hampered the playabilty, I actually prefer Umbrella Chronicles, in truth.http://www.projectumbrella.net The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium
