Resident Evil 6?

I agree with everyone who disagrees with co-op. A two-player (or more) mechanic is best left for action games; it kills the horror, atmosphere, and suspense for me.

As long as they tie up alot of the loose ends they have left then I dont mind having new characters and such but for them to just leave it as it is because its getting old. I consider that to be very sloppy and uninspired. I actually liked the direction the story was going in LIN and would definatley like to know whats going on there.
Like I said in my other post they can add a new character to the series but please dont change everything. If they added a new guy/girl please continue on the story in the direction LIN was taking it and at least refference the previous characters. I'm sure people like Wesker and Spencer would be pretty well known in the RE universe, surley the world would know about them so please refference to them and dont complteley ignore what has already happened. Do this Capcom and you got my support.

After the first game was released, I was hoping it would be different characters each time a new game was released.
However, once I saw Claire introduced, I knew it wasn't going to happen.

Right now I think I'd rather see loose ends tied up via another form other than a game(s). We need new characters that have no ties to previous ones, new settings, new situations. I do like the old characters and the series was arguably based around them I suppose, but as someone who's been involved in the series since original RE1 first US release, I just feel it's time to retire the main cast (esp. in playable form) and get something fresh going. Unless they can conjure up one final all-encompassing game to tie up the majority of loose ends, then I would rather the loose ends be explained in other media, such as files or video. Otherwise every new game will have more loose ends, and it would just be too continuous.
I'd also like to see a return of multiple character scenarios to choose from and multiple endings based on pathing and choices made. I don't think it would cause any canon issues as they'd have to do eventually is declare which ending is the story canon one, like many other games do.

Reboots are all the rage these days. The Spider-Man movies, Prince of Persia series, horror movies in general, etc. I wouldn't be surprised to see a game coming out in 2012 called simply 'Resident Evil' that has an all-new cast and storyline. It would suck to leave the loose ends untied from the original series, but I'm just saying...I can totally see it happening.

I would want RE6 to be more like 1.5. The game should take place in a different city, with a new biohazard outbreak, the game should have atmosphere, and if they are not going to go back to the static camera angles, fine, but at least make it more like 1.5. An obviously I want a new cast of characters, no one we already know. And it should be single-player, not co-op. Make the city environment modernized, and make zombies try to grab you through the jail cells. Make a "Resident Evil" game. Stop giving us this action shit. If I wanted action shit, I have plenty of other games to choose from. >_>

I want the game to be a reboot or alternate universe with new characters. I think they've taken the original Resident Evil story as far as they can go now that Wesker is dead.
It would also be a good way to bring Umbrella back into the mix because they could have a different timeline where Umbrella is still around. Maybe make an alternate canon branching off of the Resident Evil 1 remake or something.
What I don't want is the return of the classic controls. The way Resident Evil 4 and 5 played were amazing, in my opinion, and I would like to see this continued. Worse controls does not mean more terrifying. It just means more frustrating. Also, in terms of gameplay, I don't want the main story to be required co-op. It would be cool if they had a co-op bonus game or something, but it really didn't work as a part of the main story.
From a content standpoint, I would love to see the return of zombies. The zombie-like things on the conveyor belt (and Lost in Nightmares) in RE5 got me all excited even if all they did was jump on you if you got close. Beyond zombies, I'd like to see an all new set of creatures. We've had enough hunters, lickers, and tyrants, although variants on those could prove interesting.
So yeah, that's what I want in Resident Evil 6.

I third this. Add optional, selectable characters a la Resident Evil and RE2, with overlapping stories and I would be a happy little Resi fan. Official sequel to RE2 maybe??Originally posted by ChrisRedfield29 View PostIn my opinion, if RE6 is to succeed and simultaneously not be a reboot, it will need any combination of these components:
- Ada Wong
- Sherry Birkin
- Zombies
- 'The Organization'
- TriCell
- Less third person shooter, more survival horror

XD Well, I play the original game every now and then as it's tied with REmake for being my favorite so I tend to remember more about Barry and the like than the characters and whatnot from the newer games.Originally posted by I_Am_Nemesis View PostYou know I actually forgot that Barry had daughter haha, its been so long since I played the first game. I agree though that It would be very interesting if Barry trained his daughters in case they got caught up in an outbreak. They could even make a spin off or something in which one or two (co-op haha) go to rescue Barry from some evil ex Umbrella scientist.
I'm glad you thought it was interesting as well, as I wouldn't be surprised if Barry did train/teach them how to defend themselves if something like Raccoon ever happened again.
XD Not sure about that, but it just would be nice to use some of the existing characters again that aren't "too old" for an appearance. Though, it would be interesting with your idea there... especially as there's still a few characters with ties to Umbrella floating around out there.
Co-op, maybe. Only if it's optional. XDLast edited by Enetirnel; 08-31-2010, 03:55 AM.

Would be rather interesting if one or both of them were introduced if Barry was to have a part in future games as you've said either in part of a prologue or even in role or temporary role as a support character like Ingrid Hunnigan as you mentioned.
Of course, if they were to have a meetup it would be nice to have a mention of say Ark or Barry at a point. Though, I do like the idea of the scenarios back again.
presidentevil, so... essentially a game with Wesker pre-5.

That'd be interesting too. XD

I think RE6 should try to blend both action and survival styles. Lost In Nightmares showed us that it can be done, maybe adding more variety and some parts like RE4's "sewers" where you find the Novistadors for the first time...
Storywise would be the problem for me. The current RE lore is pretty rich but it's a convoluted mess if you ask me. We have potential characters everywhere that are in a dark place that can be exploted. On the other hand, we have no more villians. We need someone new. If not, there's two loose ends from Umbrella: Nicholai and Christine Henri... I'm not considering Alex Wesker because I think we need a break from all Wesker related stuff.
I think that the series still have some life on it... It's just how they approach it. Revelations should give us insight on how the sixth installment will be, because I don't see RE6 appearing anytime soon.

I want Resident Evil 6 to be a series reboot. I think that it's time Capcom started fresh again.

That would be the best idea Capcom can come up with. Introduce barry's daughter and make her into a new character. I wouldn't mind that at all!Originally posted by Enetirnel View Post
Though, I'd much rather have something like Barry's daughters (one or both) showing up in some of the games or something as a logical choice for a "new" character.

Of the old characters, I think Rebecca and Ada would work the best. We know Ada has not given up her action-packed spy life, and no closure was ever given to Rebecca after the Raccoon City incidents. I think Carlos would actually work, since he has been a mercenary for most of his life - it's not hard to imagine him joining B.S.A.A. (if they go that route). No one knows what happened to him, other than he escaped Raccoon City. Billy would be pointless, as he just escaped and made a new life for himself.Originally posted by Alzaire View PostOther characters that were side characters have pretty much fallen off the planet anyway. Newer and mainstream fans won't care about Billy or Carlos. Rebecca seems to have just disappeared, though she would be older now and still has some potential. It just seems weird that there's no info on what happened to her. Sherry has a little bit of potential as well, but at this point I think they missed the most obvious and (arguably) the best potential with her as everyone expected Wesker to have kidnapped her and now with him gone, unless they bring Wesker back (please no), they'd have to have the new villain kidnap her.
As for Sherry, I think it would be cool if she became a scientist. I'm assuming that Wesker did not kidnap her (and that the U.S. government took her), thus it's possible. She became a scientist because her parents were, and it always intrigued her or something. So she's working in a lab and some zombie-esque virus breaks out, bringing back memories of her childhood. Soon it infects the whole city she works in, but due to the G antibodies in her system, she is immune (I'm assuming the virus is somehow related to Umbrella-made viruses of the past). Mix in some Tricell (or whatever the big evil corporation of the day is) conspiracies and bring back old B.O.W.s (hunters, lickers, etc.) and you've got a survival horror RE6! And remember that Sherry isn't some soldier with special training, so no jumping down 50-foot ladders or dodging laser beams.Last edited by Det. Beauregard; 08-27-2010, 07:53 PM.

Before introducing new characters, I would like complete closure with the old cast. Not another "she saved the day, escaped in a helicoptor - never to be heard of again"
The previous character's whereabouts could be in the form of a book, a movie, a file, a brief cut-scene, whatever - just give me closure. Before the old story line is wiped out completely, I prefere there be no lingering questions, no room for sequels or mysterious pop-ups.
I think we need one last main game to wrap up EVERYTHING. Including this Alex Wesker crap. Then I can finally accept new characters, new story, new setting, etc with no connections whatsoever with the previous Resident Evil.
