Music shared between games?

I just want to react! Hope it's still related ^^

I listen many Trailer Music (Yeah I know, it's unusual) and I noticed something similar. Many tracks use sometimes the same melody, I can't explain it correctly in english! Haha

There is many many many other examples. So, they're not only sharing music between games, but also between multiples companies. I can't explain how, but I think that they just use the same software to create the musics!

XD How did I know you were going to bring up Two Steps From Hell there? Nah, I listen to trailer music too. It's just a pity a lot of them don't make their albums available to the public but that's a whole other story for that bit. XD

It's either that, or the original songs are being sampled OR that it's an accidental piece. Such as the whole TAPPY MGS "theme" thing. >_>;

Other than that, it does relate as I've heard some other ones - such as in Demento/Haunting Ground I actually can hear what sounds like a sample from Rob Dougan's "Clubbed to Death" played backwards and slightly sped up as an ambient sound effect mixed into the song.

Not just that, but even some of the songs sound suspiciously similar to pieces out of Doctor Who, Torchwood due to the instrument/virtual instrument, key, tone/pitch and tempo.

Not at all. I noticed music from Clock Tower 3 sounded very similar to other Capcom horror games. We already know Capcom uses very similar character designs (Alyssa and Ashley, Jill and Fiona, etc), so I dont think it would be too far fetched to say they are probably lifting audio from the games as well.

Well, on the topic of characters... I had a suspicious feeling about Fiona and that beta Ashley model. I checked the models against each other and it seems that Fiona's model matches the sizing and the like to that one and I also found some beta Fiona textures that also suggests that when the development crossed paths with RE4 that they may have intended to bring up the "Torn clothing equals health meter" again along side the Demento concept art of it though Fiona's textures appear to be quite similar to DMC and/or the older RE texture sets.

Aside from that at the moment, I swear to god I'm hearing RE1 music in Glass Rose's cutscenes (similar to the ones you can hear in Wesker's Report) off the remix album if I remember correctly. Especially when Denemon's corpse opens his eyes, though it wouldn't surprise me if it was just from that album considering the RE1 VAs are in it. The in-game music itself is just repetitive sounding loop ones.

Seiko Kobuchi did do a song used in the trailer, opening and a variation is played on a record at some point but there wasn't an official soundtrack (there's no cutscenes of Glass Rose on YouTube, so I'll need to upload some examples).

Rosetta, which tracks out of CT3 sounded similar to other ones to you? I know "Behind the Door" is a pretty obvious one... as it's got that start which makes me think of one of the cutscenes with the enemies being shown - just can't pin point which one it'd be from (RE1 and Outbreak keep popping into my head in terms of similar sounds). Though, the rest of the song sounds suspiciously like "Leon With Claire" after it's gone through a bit of the CT3 variation of from the Bio2 OST (not the Complete OST) , there's also "Axe of Darkness" that sort of sounds like it's got that "Big Big Spider" from RE1 start but slightly modified or played in reverse or something, same sort of thing goes with "Impact".

"The Ghosts" sounds like it contains an old, reversed 16-bit or something track, I can hear it underneath other songs too like "Kidnapped Mother - Meeting Dennis Again". "Murals of Ceremony" nearly sounds like the RE1 Mansion music too, just slightly different key. "Shock" has sounds in it that match up with Glass Rose that I can hear in it.

In Glass Rose, going back over the music again... I can certainly hear one of the Save Room/Typewriter songs distinctly in a track.

I can upload cutscenes, or the music from the game since there essentially isn't any of it online, no soundtrack was released either but I got the music out of it if needed as examples.

[EDIT] Just realized the save room/typewriter song is actually the version from Zero. Somewhat makes sense, as Seiko Kobuchi did compose the main theme used on the trailer, opening... though I can't recall how much she was involved since Hideaki Utsumi said he was barely involved in it.

I know I've mentioned this before but I didn't exactly go into it - I wasn't sure if others had noticed it outside of a couple of small groups (such as fans of Demento), but I noticed quite a while ago that there's a few tracks that have been released on the soundtracks that seem to sound suspiciously like that to other games (particularly in relation to RE4's development history between Production Studio 1 and 4 it seems).

One such one would be between Demento's "Hazy Vision" to the "You Are Dead"/Game over music of Outbreak File #2. I uploaded the audio as an example of one such one. The start's difference is that it's a bit quieter and it sounds like there's been a bit of a phaser and/or wah-wah styled distortion on it to not sound so clear in contrast to the version of Hazy Vision I've used from my copy of the Demento OST.

There's other ones as well, such as "Central Hall" in RE4 to "Fake Planets" in Demento - which I can actually hear playing underneath the music on top of it completely, and parts cut to be looped as sound effects to add to the general uneasy ambient sound the song has.

I mean, it doesn't seem to be reuse in the similarity of say - Devil May Cry reusing the Clock Tower 3 menu sounds, which Glass Rose and Demento also have. Demento also has the Ghost sound for the wailing stone distraction item and the like.

Now, I know Seiko Kobuchi and Shinya Okada weren't credited on those however the same sort of thing is in but Seiko was actually credited on the 5 OST (Majini I seems to be sampling Seiko's Zero work, Voice in the Darkness is sampling Demento music quite clearly) and in some other songs that are currently escaping me.

Although the factor that Yoshiki Sandou ("D.J. Sandou") was involved as a sound designer for Outbreak, Outbreak File #2 and 5 doesn't explain the factor that the music composed by Seiko was used in the actual songs instead of just the sound effects that Sandou could have used considering that Hideaki Utsumi was the sound designer for Demento. It partially makes sense considering that Yoshiki Sandou and Seiko Kobuchi have a group title of "Carbonara Synthesizer" but aside from that - reuse of WHOLE songs uncredited?

Anyway. I don't know what to think of it, as I keep hearing the songs in other songs now and it irritates me to hell because I personally can't decide if it's a good thing that they used the Demento music and sound effects OR if it's a bad thing for lazy reuse and/or uncredited lazy reuse again...

Or am I just going crazy and hearing things all over the place? ;
