Right now replaying Outbreak 1 and having a lot of fun, I think I didn't touched the game in the last 3 years, so it's almost like playing a new game for me. It's amazing how awesome are the scenarios, all of them have a great atmosphere, they capture the raccoon city vive very well, something that don't happen in Outbreak 2 in some scenarios.
Gameplay-wise, the games it's full of annoying things but the thing that I can't stand it's the loading time, jesus, every door, a loading time screen, it's awful.

Well yeah thats the difference in the two, I dont think RE5 is supposed to be that type on game. They did advertise it as a scary game but even on your own you would have to search long and hard to find someone scared by RE5. Believe it or not there are people on Youtube who are terrified by RE5 somehow, lucky bastards. As far as co-op goes though I had alot of fun playing Re5. That and Dead Rising 2 I cant think of many other Co-op campaign good games on Ps3. Looking back at the series the only game that ever did have me scared for longer than a few minutes was Remake. Dead Space never had me really scared neither. It was more like panic.Originally posted by geluda View PostYou see that's what I don't like! I don't think Resident Evil is supposed to be co-op, not for me anyway. Having another human there to talk to destracts me away from the atmosphere of the game and overall makes it a less fearful experience. Similarly, having an AI opponent following you around is a chore and distracts me away from what should be an immersive experience. There needs to be some sort of balance and for me Resident Evil 5 didn't find that balance.
Personally I think Dead Space 2 was the best survival horror game of this generation. It got everyhing right (dispite a few little flaws), I could sit home alone, late at night, turn the lights off and completely lose my self in the nightmare. It played with my mind on a deep, psychological level, that's an absolute success in my books.

Using an emulator at the minute which is a bit of a bummer, I've got a PSP but I flashed it back to OFW a long time ago and lost my MMS so can't reflash CFW to play on that. So I'm currently waiting on a PSX so I can play these betas on the comfort of my sofa, at which point I'm going to be playing through the hacked Biohazard 2 Trial Edition, something I've been holding back on playing untill I had a better way to play it.
I've had Resident Evil 5 Gold sitting here for a long time and I've never played it, to be honest I don't even like it which is why I haven't bothered. I watched my friend go through it and the whole co-op/protect AI thing is just something I'll never like, escorting Sherry or Ashley is bad enough, putting up with a whole game with Sheva would drive me insane. But after I get through Grandia II (what I'm currently playing) I'm thinking of giving it another shot.

Currently playing a Resident Evil game Thread
I thought I would go ahead and make a thread for us to post in about our experiences in the RE games we are currently playing. I was looking for this kind of thread a while back after playing through Re Zero and now I am playing RE4 Seperate Ways. So if you guys are playing an RE game and want to talk about it maybe put your post here and we can keep it all in one thread. At the start of SW I was enjoying myself picking off Garnados easily and having little trouble progressing. By the time I got to chapter 4 I started to die alot and found the gameplay very annoying. The part when you are stuck in a cage with a Garrador (Wolverine) really pissed me off. Unless you hit select during the cutscene where he jumps down you really dont stand a chance, he is straight on you. Then you have some idiot with a ball and chain smashes you from outside the cage?? I did get to see Ada have her head chopped off though which was pretty cool.
Finally after getting through that I managed to make it to the part where a Garnado is firing some big ass gun at you. Think its chapter 4. You have to make your way up through some maze like platforms by using the grappling hook. Man this was total shit. One hit from this gun is instant death! The camera angels are very unforgiving on this part. I have no idea what is safe to hide behind half the time and if you miss the grappling hook alert that pops up on the screen when you can use it, there is no backing up into it you have to do a 360 turn and run back through it. Which usually results in an instant death from the pain in the ass with the big gun. I dont remember thinking that it was this difficult. Knock RE5 all you want guys but it plays a million times smoother than RE4. I know its been a few years now but damn SW is annoying. I turned it off at that point not quite sure I want to continue. My worst RE gaming experience in a while. The only good thing I can say about SW is that they put more time into the cutscenes and gave you more to do than the RE5 Dlc. I'm already at 2 hours and I still have a chapter to go.Last edited by CrimsonElder; 04-12-2011, 09:18 PM.Tags: None
