The Japanese Romaji systems are admittedly a bit strange and arbitrary, but Capcom would have surely remained faithful to one of them.

If it is Japanese, the name would most likely be 町田五郎「まちだごろう」"Machida Gorou"

It has largely to due with what best exemplifies how it's pronounced phonetically. Matida doesn't really make any sense, as it doesn't sound anything like that. So, yes, Machida seems to be the best accepted norm. Macida might be confused as being pronounced as "mah-see-dah".

Nope, it means he knows how to identify BSS files with masks. Also, those are coming from BH2 trial. Nothing new under the sun.

That seems to be the case. Although if the "M" stands for the surname "Macida", one has to wonder what the "L" in "ID Card L" stands for (Linda? It's not a surname though).

EDIT: Probably just a coincidence. Pay my speculation no heed.
