If it's the Dual Shock version ported straight then yes. Unfortunately that's the only copy of RE1 I have for PS1. *pounds fist at the thought of the remixed music* It's a disgrace to everything my username stands for!

you dun need a ps3 to run them, you can use a psp which is much cheaper

man. don't you just love consoles that fail more thisgeneration than they did last? i find it odd that Sony and Microsoft knew exactly that these consoles would fail by "inserting" a different lighting mechanism that triggers when something bad happens. very odd so to say.
