I saw the 3D video on my 3DS. It looks better with the 3D effect. I like it. Very retro and yet... new.Originally posted by Wrathborne View Posthttp://the-magicbox.com/1304/game130417a.shtml
I"ll just leave this here. I like the classic gameplay returning.

Er... there was only one 3D Zelda handheld game released. Ocarina of Time. And it was hailed as the best version of the game evah. The definite edition in fact. With enhanced visuals and running at a good decent frame rate (unlike the original N64 version). What's to hate about it?Originally posted by AsteroidBlues View PostA link to the past was amazing, and a sequel is great news... But I've hated the 3D handheld Zelda titles so far. :S But I have to give mad props to Nintendo, they've got a Rick Astley level of dedication to keep all these franchises on life support after the turn of the century. XD
And life support? Nintendo franchises are hardly at that point. They make a ton of cash and sell millions.
Zelda isn't Mega Man or Sonic, series that ARE on life support.

You seem to be forgetting Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, which makes three including Ocarina. The definitive version of Ocarina of Time is the Master Quest found on the Gamecube disc, which I and many other fans have sought out and purchased to get the proper big screen experience. And to clarify my "Life Support" comment, I meant that they are creatively dead in my opinion. Yes they rake in tons of money, but still.Originally posted by Pikminister View PostEr... there was only one 3D Zelda handheld game released. Ocarina of Time. Mixed feelings.
Nintendo is a failed investment; I can't foresee myself buying a 3DS, for this... but, I do want to play it. I haven't been impressed with this franchise, for about 10+ years, though.
I need further media and confirmation that the annoying "LISTEN!!!" fairy will be nowhere, long before I consider any purchase.
Agreed... so glad I got this one (and the Collector's Disc) for free.Originally posted by AsteroidBlues View PostThe definitive version of Ocarina of Time is the Master Quest found on the Gamecube disc
Just because Zelda games are still being made, doesn't mean they're worth the purchase.Originally posted by Pikminister View PostZelda isn't Mega Man or Sonic, series that ARE on life support.
I'd rather go another decade without a proper, well-thought, worthy MegaMan title, than purchase a lousy, lackluster title, tomorrow.I'm a blackstar.

Well, not really. It was a fantastic Zelda title, and in my top 10 favorite games, but if you break it down it's just the same thing. I'm not saying that it's a bad formula, it just gets tiring. The only way I can explain it is like this; It's like the Simpsons, started out great, but once you've been to exposed to the same thing over and over without err, it gets boring.Originally posted by Wrathborne View PostThought the Twilight princess showed a lot of creativity.
Why couldn't Link be a rogue freebooter once, something Skyrim-ish? Why couldn't Link have a USEFUL, HUMAN COMPANION for once? Sure Midna came close, but still not quite good enough. There are just so many interesting things they could do with the Zelda universe instead of "Find out I'm Hero of Time, tackle eight/sixteen dungeons, get better sword, save world/princess/both, end story." What I think they need to do is go Super Mario Sunshine on this franchise's ass, shake it up.
I really cannot comprehend how people worked up such a hate for Navi. xDOriginally posted by MarkGrass View PostMixed feelings.

It really is the best version out there. I had to track it down at a Gamestop some fifty miles away from where I live for a really good price. I replayed the original version first just to train for the Master Quest.Originally posted by MarkGrass View PostAgreed... so glad I got this one (and the Collector's Disc) for free. The definitive version of Ocarina of Time is the Master Quest found on the Gamecube disc
Exactly. I wouldn't go so far as waiting a decade, but it seems like they could make some more creative titles in the development timetable they go by today.Originally posted by MarkGrass View PostJust because Zelda games are still being made, doesn't mean they're worth the purchase.Zelda isn't Mega Man or Sonic, series that ARE on life support.

Personally for me Twilight Princess is the most consistent Zelda in terms of quality, it seldom if ever drops the ball. My favourite Zelda without a doubt. (DISCLAIMER: The Gamecube original I mean, not the fucking awful Wii port).
I'm totally on board for a LTTP2, as long as they don't literally call it LINK TO THE PAST TWO. It needs a new subtitle.http://www.projectumbrella.net The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

Nintendo going backwards as usual. I mean it isn't like they just got a great new 3D Zelda 3DS engine from porting OoT that they could use for an original new 3D Zelda title.Beanovsky Durst - "They are not pervs. They are japanese."

I can't speak for everyone, but for me, it was flat-out annoying. The voice, the sense of open-adventure being stolen, the visual distraction...Originally posted by AsteroidBlues View PostI really cannot comprehend how people worked up such a hate for Navi. xD
Eh, at least it could be disabled.
I got lucky; Nintendo mailed the Collector's Disc to me (free of charge), and I defeated a friend in Smash Bros. for the Ocarina disc, using Samus.Originally posted by AsteroidBlues View PostIt really is the best version out there. Yes Dracarys, we all remember you hate Nintendo. Moving on, if the game is Navi-less thats a big step in the right direction.
One thing abut the classic gameplay returning I'm glad to see is that when you move around the map it doesn't do that "shift/load" one screen at a time restriction that always slowed the game down.

Oops, I thought you meant 3D as in with the 3D effect. My bad.Originally posted by AsteroidBlues View PostYou seem to be forgetting Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, which makes three including Ocarina.
If big screen experience is all you care about, sure. But the 3DS version is actually a remake. Better visuals, better frame rate (who da-fuk doesn't care about that?) and bonus Master Quest included.Originally posted by AsteroidBlues View PostThe definitive version of Ocarina of Time is the Master Quest found on the Gamecube disc, which I and many other fans have sought out and purchased to get the proper big screen experience.
Like you said, merely your opinion. But I could say the same just about ANY franchise out there. MGS, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, AssCreed, Halo... you name it.Originally posted by AsteroidBlues View PostAnd to clarify my "Life Support" comment, I meant that they are creatively dead in my opinion. Sonic and Mega Man games are still being made too. Difference is, Zelda is not on life support. While Sonic and Mega Man are barely hanging on for deal life. If Sonic wasn't a SEGA franchise, they would've given up on it like they did with Bayonetta. Mega Man? LOL Capcom gets a lot of heat 24/7 for not knowing what to do with the IP.Originally posted by MarkGrass View PostJust because Zelda games are still being made, doesn't mean they're worth the purchase.

"Cross-Over" is an iOS title, many consider to be a cheap cop-out.
...and that Street Fighter title was a fan-made creation, sponsored by CAPCOM.
But yes, CAPCOM does receive flack - especially considering they've cancelled roughly 4 different titles, in the past few years alone.
...and I couldn't care less about Sonic - SEGA bombed that franchise, with the birth (and death) of the Dreamcast.
Buddy, I've been playing Zelda since the 1980s - don't tell me what I like and don't like. ;)Originally posted by Pikminister View PostGood for you. Zelda is not for you. Move on and wait another decade.
I'm terribly sorry that my faith in Nintendo isn't as strong as it used to be. I'm not going to buy everything that has "Zelda" or "Nintendo" written on the package, as-is the same with "Resident Evil" and "CAPCOM".
I did the same for both franchises, for many years... and was utterly disappointed, at times.
I actually like that limited feature; it gives a feeling of nostalgia.Originally posted by Wrathborne View PostOne thing abut the classic gameplay returning I'm glad to see is that when you move around the map it doesn't do that "shift/load" one screen at a time restriction that always slowed the game down.
