E3 demo:
By now, I'm sure you've read many reactions, impressions, and even Jimpressions of the many, many games being shown at E3 2010. But how much of a taste to attendees actually get of these games? Well, let's take a look at SOCOM 4. A couple of days before we jetted down to LA, producer Mark [...]
Still no multiplayer.

Gamescom demo:
It's a proud week for us here at Zipper Interactive as tomorrow marks the 8th birthday of our first-ever PS2 game and the title that started a huge multimillion-selling franchise, SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs. To celebrate the eight-year mark, we've put together a special video for our fans. In it, you'll experience the gamescom 2010 [...]
The game looks great. Also, in the comments section, the poster reveals that multiplayer info will be released 'later this year.'

The multiplayer information flow will begin this weekend, I believe. Zipper invited 18 diehard SOCOM fans from their forums (http://forums.socom.com/t5/SOCOM-4/bd-p/socom4) to tour their studios in Washington and play the game itself this Thursday. Also, a podcast that was recorded yesterday with one of the lead multiplayer designers is set to be released into the atmosphere on Friday or so. The wait for info is almost over.

As I was expecting, my hopes and dreams have completely been crushed and destroyed. They've ripped the soul out of this series to cater to the Call of Duty generation of gamers, and have thrown in a "classic mode" to shut up the hardcore fans of the series. SOCOM is now officially a fucking joke.
Everyone here at Zipper Interactive is pleased to announce that the wait will soon be over! As our headline says, SOCOM 4 is scheduled to hit stores in North America in just a few months on April 19th. Earlier this week at the Zipper headquarters in Redmond, WA, we invited the media and 18 SOCOM [...]

You got a classic mode so what is the issue? Afraid no one will play it because it sucks?
Old SOCOM was crap, you get stuck with a clan and they will probably team kill at game start so you do not 'steal their kills'. Then you don't get to respawn.Beanovsky Durst - "They are not pervs. They are japanese."

They took everything I loved about the game and stripped it down and shit on it.
There's FOUR game modes, only ONE of which was featured in the old games.
Demolition, Breach, Escort and Extraction are ALL GONE.
They added in AIRSTRIKES and KILLSTREAKS.
There is no more lobby system, replaced instead with a modern-day matchmaking bullfuckingshit.
NO HANDGUNS as primaries, you either choose a shotgun or a sniper rifle to go with your assault rifle.
There's no more push-to-talk, everything is open mic.
They added regenerating health just like every other piece of shit FPS out there.
Members of the community who played it today in Washington are posting on the official forums(which just crashed due to the uproar, by the way) and saying exactly what I was fearing -- the game feels like a modern day FPS, played in third person with a cover system. http://forums.socom.com/t5/SOCOM-4/W...d/td-p/1019456
Classic Mode sounds like the only saving grace for me, and it's not even the main focus of the multiplayer experience. I'm thoroughly and utterly furious with Zipper.

One of those links mention custom games so it cannot be all matchmaking. "Custom matches allows you to choose options such as weapon restrictions, cover, and the ability to revive teammates."
Classic mode solves some of those issues...and push to talk being gone is really a complaint? I would complain if I did have to push to talk.Beanovsky Durst - "They are not pervs. They are japanese."
