  • Dark Knight is the movie of the summer and probably the year. Heath Ledger was amazing and made the movie. Now I looking forward to X-Files.

I know what ya mean about that Project Omega, if I ever have to see a movie that's just come out I need to drag someone along with me otherwise it feels completely weird to me.

            • I saw the Dark Knight finally, but I guess I expected too much from the movie? I went in expecting some epic crime drama with "teh best villain evars". But the film was just boring. The opening scene was interesting, but it was all down hill from there. Maybe it was Ledgers character, but I just didn't see the Joker as a great villain. He seemed like some wimpy guy who managed to con some people to work for him through various means. I guess thats supposed to make him some epic villain?

The story dragged on far too much. I can't even really recall what the movie was about besides Joker constantly escaping police custody, or just harassing certain members of the public while Batman tries to stop him. When do the interesting parts start? There wasn't any kind of drama, and the Batmans love interest storyline was so hard to swallow with her eye bags and generally older looking appearance. There wasn't any clever back and forth between Joker and Batman. Joker was just some insane guy who wanted to see the world burn. That doesn't make for a very interesting villain imo.

I read a critic review that compared the movie to Heat, on that same level of a crime drama. But holy cow, how wrong they are. This was just boring all throughout.

              • The Joker's character in The Dark Knight portrayed a psychopathic, deranged, unstable and complex individual with a genius master plan. To be honest I think you did not fully understand his character. In my opinion it was this character that really raised the movie and gave it all the praise we see. Without the Joker's presence, the movie would not have become this popular. And if you missed the idea of the Joker, the movie would be pretty much boring, I think as you have come to experience.

                *The following might contain spoilers*

What makes The Joker the epic villain is that he is the master planer, he got us all fooled. He spoke of the unnecessity of plans, that he is not a planer, that he is a simple person wishing to create anarchy. As a matter of fact, almost the entire film was The Joker's plan. It was his plan to run away with millions of dollars (in that sense it was his plan to control all the villains), it was his plan to get arrested by the police, it was his plan to convert Harvey Dent and it was his plan to misguide the Batman. The idea behind The Joker was anarchy, destruction, harassments and so on. This was also a big part of the idea behind the movie. All of this added to simple character details (The Joker's voice, laughing, licking lips etc.) to The Joker executed an excellent and very entertaining performance.

The Dark Knight was actually inspired by Heat, this was stated by Christopher Nolan.

                • Meh, it was alright. I didn't like all the politically correct crap, Morgan Freeman's character saying he will quit just because he has to work with that phone machine, boohoo cry me a river. And Batman can't even kill anyone, that's kinda dumb. It makes me wonder what the point of Batman's mission is, it just doesn't make sense to me. There's no way he can change anything without some sort of massive revolution or lots of destruction like those ninja guys were trying to do in the first one.

Batman is confused - but it's a good movie nonetheless...

                      • The last movies I've seen are:

                        Pinapple Express (hillarious)
                        Step Brothers (also hillarious)
                        High Crimes (<3 Morgan Freedman)
Alone in the Dark (horrible ending, although the action was alright but everyone had the IQ of a sponge... I know it sucked, but had to witness it for myself.)

These should be some fun comedy, can't wait for them!

I recently watched "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", a 1975 classic by Milos Forman. It was a powerful film and Mr. Nicholson definitely deserved the Oscar.

                              • Been watching some movies on Blu-ray...

Con Air - Great step-up from the DVD, PQ very detailed, noticed a lot of new things.
Face/Off - PQ not as great as Con Air but good enough improvement. Good movie.
Shrooms - Cheap horror movie some parts are just awful.. just a bit of fun really.
Vacancy - Good idea but badly thought out. Crappy ending (or maybe it was just too short).
Casino Royale - Didn't really like it even though I saw it before, it really dragged on towards the end.

Gonna start watching the Resident Evil trilogy on BD tonight.
