In terms of her involvement with PotC, I'm specifically bothered by how she pushed for the writers to take her character in a certain direction that they probably wouldn't have considered had she not been so insistent with them. I understand Elizabeth is "her" character, but I find it very unprofessional for an actress as inexperienced as her (at the time DMC was being written) to do something like this. In the commentary for the movie, T&T discuss this, and although they seem to think her ideas were great and whatnot, it's like she planted a poisonous seed in their creative mind, and years later, I'm still bothered by it.

And, overall, I just don't think she's that great of an actress. That scene in DMC where Elizabeth is throwing a tantrum (and everyone is ignoring her) comes to mind. I cringe every time I see it. I'm embarrassed for her. I still can't believe she was nominated for an Oscar for Pride & Prejudice.

This, of course, is just my opinion, as I said. And, being that I do not know this woman, it's a bit unfair for me to judge her, but this is just the way I feel. She rubs me the wrong way. Usually I can separate characters from actors, but with her, it's difficult, and it's stopped me from watching anything she's been in, aside from the PotC trilogy.

I Know though that it is a matter of opinion though And Although i hated Atonement (too depressing for me) she did a solid performance in that film. Only thing I'm not sure about is the director. Rob Marshall may be directing. He made Chicago which was great. But that's a whole different style of film to what Pirates is like. But I guess if Richard Marquand's first action film was Star Wars 6, then Marshall can do it too, he is a good director.

My brain thus tells me that we should be focusing on the Caribbean TRILOGY. I assumed that there is an over-arcing storyline since many films nowadays that are filmed as a trilogy have....wait for it....over-arcing storylines!!!!!

Ok, and how many arcs has she got there? Is that, one over all arc? Or three separate mini arcs?. Seems to me like a mix of both, maybe two arcs. One being RE1 to RE3, and the other being UC to RE5. Now, when I said, Jill should be in RE6/DSC. Everyone's like, but her arc is over. That's BS. Make a new fucking arc then. My main problem is with the fans, they seem to forget this fact that new arcs can, and will be made. No matter if there are loose ends or not. Any character, can be written into any situation, and have it fit perfectly.

If you have ever played Ratchet and Clank. You would know what I mean. There are two main arcs in the whole series. There is the original arc, of R&C1,2,3, and 4. And there is the sequel arc named "Future" Which consists of R&C5,6 and 7. And there is the PSP spin of story arc too. Not to mention that the R&C series really actually has about 6 or 7 story arcs. But mini ones. RE has a few different minor arcs, but only one major over arcing one really. And way to much focus on the least interesting one, which is Chris and Wesker's rivalry.

I mean, look at MGS, it has two main arcs. Big Boss's arc, and Solid Snakes arc, and now it seems Raiden is getting one too with Rising. Though the two main MGS arcs intermingle at points.

Not always. Stand Alones. Indy series. Only Indy 1 and Indy 4 are connected in any major way. The others are only minorly connected (such as in Indy 3 a small reference to Indy 1 is made about the arc of the covenant), they happened, but each film has a separate story arc of it's own. Wheras RE never finishes anything, RE1's plot is still spilling into RE5 with this Chris Wesker BS. Sometimes I think RE wold have done better as a stand alone. Or only with small connections to each other. Just because over arcing story's are popular, doesn't mean every series needs one.

I personally think a story arc about two humans, with a rivalry that spans an entire series. Is so fucking far out of place in a game meant to be about killing zombies it's just not funny. It has seriously taken RE off track. It should have ended in RE1. Wesker should have stayed dead.

Both. And Pirates is similar to Indy in it's story arc. Pirates 1, and probably 4 are stand alone. Pirates 2 and 3 are connected to each other though. The connection between Pirates 1 and Pirates 2 and 3 is pretty small in the story, but they still connect. Mainly concerning Jacks compass, and Will's father, all the old characters are back, but still, new story completely, but following on after Pirates 1, building on it, even though no loose ends were left. It's not over arcing all the time. And I love that. It's a new story. That happens after the events of the first, but not directly continuing the events of the first.

I'm really against this film since Elizabeth and Will won't appear. Unless they both appear in it along with Jack I won't see it and I won't enjoy it. The films had already became fairly shoddy anyway (even though I enjoy them) and I can't really see where they'd go with this fourth film since everything was pretty much wrapped up. There's creating new story/character arcs and then there's continuing a storyline that had come to a natural end.
