I've played many great games where I didn't like the story like Bayonette and Devil May Cry.

Thats too bad, because games aren't movies and movies aren't games.
You're meant to experience whats happening in a game, as for the writing not being to your liking, welcome to Resident Evil. Its a series filled with amazing ideas, interesting characters, shitty campy dialogue and terrible cliches. Its a B movie with A+ visuals and effects, its been like this for 20 years almost. You aren't the only once who wants it to grow up, but you are the only one who isn't in on the joke here: Damn near everyone feels about the same way, we just accept it for what it is and enjoy it for what it is.Last edited by Wrathborne; 03-16-2015, 03:40 AM.

No, I'm judging it because of the writing.Last edited by Guest; 03-16-2015, 05:45 AM.

With Capcom seemingly ran out of ideas since after RE5, I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually come with a Raccoon City 2 or a Neo-Raccoon City, built up all over again on the same land. After the dumb "Neo-Umbrella" gimmick, which wasn't related to the pharmaceutical company in any way, I'd say everything is possible.

Guest repliedOriginally posted by Wrathborne View Post..Revelations 2 is a return to Survival Horror. More so in Barry chapter 2 than Claire, but goddamn Barry Chapter 2 is fucking splendid. Game isn't even finished, give it another chapter.
Spoiler:
I thought it couldn't possibly go any worse than having Female Wesker, but they've proved me wrong.
The game went from bad to abismally horrible. And Alex? Aside from being a generic-ass villain, is also the dumbest one the series has ever met.

Originally posted by Drake View PostIt was the same, though a bit easier due to the controller. Also looked quite good, better than the psp and like the usual high standards of the console silent hills.
Also, the camera change was due to the closing of climax usa, who were the original developers. It switched to the main climax studios in Europe.
As for the change - I am fairly certain it was the other way around... because I specifically remember the reports of it being moved to the UK before announcements that the US office closed in October 2006... I certainly know at least the game was moved to the European branch before the complete closure because of engine issues, game direction, and people weren't happy with it from an article I remember on Edge because of this weird comedy quote related to the TV show Scrubs I've never forgotten (what a weird combo that idea is - I found a web archive posted below). I can only assume that later the US branch no longer had any work to do, they shut it down because of numerous factors including SHO going to the UK. Given the engine issues and design problems, I'm not surprised they went with a more traditional design style.
To understand the origin of Shattered Memories, you have to go right back to Silent Hill: Origins on PSP in 2007. It was the game that convinced Konami that the Portsmouth-based studio represented a safe pair of hands. It also gave Sam Barlow and his team a chance to save the day. Initially, Origins was being developed at Climax LA in Santa Monica, but it was a troubled project. After problems with the engine and a confused high-level vision for the game, Barlow’s UK team were drafted in to pick up the pieces.
“It was bizarre,” says the designer of the game they inherited. “It was supposed to be a dark comedy and, at some point, someone said Scrubs was [the inspiration]! We pushed back and said, ‘Look, if this goes out, it will be a disaster. There’s a hardcore fanbase [of Silent Hill players].’ Konami said, ‘You can change everything, but you’ve got to do it in the same time and budget.’”
I love that quote. It kinda shows the sort of issues the franchise has faced with Western developers in a nutshell almost.Last edited by Rombie; 03-13-2015, 04:00 PM.
