Well even if you don't request it, you know it will pop up sooner or later.
About the FMVs, I'm pretty sure most of them were already done when 1.5 was scrapped. I remember reading it on the Bioflames forums. It was a translation from the Research on Bio 2 Final Edition book iirc.
i think they should have released 1.5 as a tie in with resident evil apocolypse. that way we had the alternate timeline without angering the REFans...well too much at least
Yet again, people get misty eyed by nostalgia. You really think Capcom are gonna be raking in enough money to make it work bothering with just because a small percentage of the RE fanbase want it?
Instead capcom gives us fingers.
I think that's how they treat the fans.(with arrogance)
If Capcom release UNFINISHED CODE (that is CODE that is NOT FINISHED) how do you think the rest of the gaming community would respond? Not just fans, but developers and publishers also. Again, you're over-estimating just how many people really care about 1.5.
Why so impossible? It's nearly happened a bunch of times. Some of these guys hold it for money. When one gets nervous that another is gonna beat him to the sell he'll sell instead. The discs are worth money only until the game hits the net.
Capcom won't release it, I'll agree, but the game will be up for download one day. It's simply patience.
Sadly I can't do the sources right now, but the studio Capcom got to make the FMV's for two mention how they had to go back and redo a large ammount of work, and even managed to re-work some of the previous FMV's. You can, I'm told, see it in some of the RE2 scenes, where when you see Leon for a split second he'll have a slightly different model which is his 1.5 model.
However, the movies weren't actually in any of the games. It was never on the same disc.
And yes, all the ideas that were cut from 1.5 because it made the game not work, apparently, got re-introduced as the series went on. Strange but true. And, yeah, some of the areas were re-used. Which sorta begs the question...what made them scrap them in the first place?
The story is probably the most interesting aspect. Ada wasn't Ada, and wasn't a spy. Marvin and Kendo lived much longer. Irons wasn't evil. And, of course, from what I read in a magazine, Umbrella was already going down. On the other hand, Birkin still seems to be after Sherry. And trains Labs, while expanded, are pretty close to what we got including the train, so...
I didn't mean that everything was rejected from it, some backgrounds were used in CV and RE3. So it's quite obvious that they had it's demo, I don't know if they still have it, though. I was told RE.1.5 was great because characters' clothes could get stained, also that you could get infected and you would have a limit of time to get an anti-virus... All these ideas were actually used in other RE games... Especially in Outbreak editions.
There were no FMV, I remember reading an interview with Mikami, he said the game was developed until 70% because they didn't make any FMV, so he guessed that the game with FMV would have been 99% finished.
I expect someone with more knowledge than I will do this better, but...
I think it's pratically the same game, just with Elza Walker as lead female.
Well...apart from the whole of the RPD. And the sewers. And the Umbrella labs had some extra parts. And the monsters, of course, most of the 1.5 ones didn't make the cut. And Birkin. And Ada. And Roy. And Birkin. Oh, and the Umbrella Office, of course. And the bosses. And the Spiderman. And Umbrella being destroyed.
So...pretty much completely different.
There were no FMV, and it was done at 75%. I think people just feel curious about it.
Well, apart from the FMV's that were made. Some were re-used for RE2, as it happens.
Just as I feel curious about RE 3.5. Beta but it's a demo, people think it's a complete game. It's not a mystery, just a BETA version of RE2 and there won't be any release of it unless someone has it's demo and share it with everyone which is unlikely to happen. If someone has the demo, whoever it is he won't share it.
Well, the difference is 1.5 was a playable game from start to finish. Play the RE2 Beta. It's about at that level of completion, maybe somewhat less. Capcom themselves won't release it but there are folks out there who, eventually, will sell it. Remember, some of them have it because they get a perverse pleasure having something no one else will...whereas some have it for the cash it will earn. One of them will break and make a small fortune. The others will loose out and have a worthless disc.
Hah.
You know, it is quite ridiculous to carry on with this request, that's why I said we should get over it, I assume Capcom don't have any disc containg such game. It's an old beta version, Don't you think it's a bit late to keep requesting this? That's my point. I was curious about it, but I realized that there won't be any playable disc... unless they remade it. I just think if there was a demo version, playable, it should have been released long ago.
It has almost been sold by a variety of people outside of Capcom. Three or four times, that I know of. Hell, Inflames almost got it free once. Point is, while there is almost certainly a version or seven in Capcom's hands which they, equally certainly, won't part with there are quite a few copies outside there hands.
The cost to develop it to completion isn't justified. I bet half their programmers from that era are gone, or have forgotten how to use the archaic tools of the day. Its not coming out.
Obviously it's not coming out. We're never gonna see a new RE game which plays like the classics. Unfortunate as it may be.

Well, the game itself was different. It had different enemies, even Birkin looked different. The levels were largely different. They recycled and expanded on a few of the levels, but there was a HUGE chunk of levels that they didn't put into RE2 as we know it.
So all in all, the experience would be very different. I'd pay a good price for it.
I remember reading about a demo version, but betas do exist, and dont think that Capcom wouldn't have the betas, they're not just gonna burn or destroy the disks are they? They're not gonna give them away are they? They'd keep them locked somewhere.
Anyways, there were FMV's, supposedly, they just wouldn't be on any beta or demo, yknow because that'd waste space?
