I just keep wondering where Sherry is...she HAS to be the blonde girl in distress on the balcony of that dilapidated building.

My guess is that Sherry isn't in RE5 at all. Which means she really has gone MIA and we'll have to read about her in some random document somewhere, or we'll have to wait another four years for her storyline to be concluded in RE6.

The entire thing depresses me to no end, so I hope I'm terribly, terribly wrong.

Didnt they confirm Sherry to be in the game though? Like soon after it was first announced. I hear in the document that there is someone called wife in the list? Maybe thats the blonde girl in the trailer. If shes not in the next trailer then no shes probal not in the game. Speaking of which shouldnt there be another trailer soon? Usually got 1 a month up untill now.

I really dont know what to make of all this information. It's a lot at once. Before we saw Jill Valentine's gravestone I thought that bird woman was for sure Sherry, but now I'm starting to think differently.

They never confirmed that the returning character was indeed Sherry...just that we'd catch a glimpse in a trailer of a female character from the series that we'd recognize.

This was said prior to the trailer released in the summer of 2007. Then all you saw in the trailer was the close up on the tube girl's eyes.

The unofficial release of a screengrab showing the same girl in the stasis tube, from the waist up, appeared to be a young blonde girl, so everyone speculated it was Sherry, since she is the only real blonde of importance from the series' history. (And the fact that Wesker's Report stated she was "safe in [his] hands." And everyone knew Wesker would be back for part 5.)

Then there is the mysterious blonde in the red dress, shown in the official site on a wallpaper (where a note says "pay attention to her movement"). Then a later trailer released at Leipzig, I believe, shows a close up on this blonde girl, looking disheveled and in terror.

I know people believed Ashley was Sherry, prior to the release of RE4, but this female in distress shown briefly in the RE5 media actually fits Sherry's profile/situation more than a scantily clad blonde in a school girl outfit...

Agreed. Plus, she has blue eyes. Like most people I, too, originally thought Ashley was Sherry, but as soon as the renders were released, showcasing Ashley's brownish/hazel eyes, it was a dead giveaway that she wasn't Sherry.

However, this blonde girl... she could very well just be a one-time character, but wouldn't she at least have a name, no matter how small a role she may have? Either Capcom reeeeeeeally doesn't want anyone to know this girl's involvement in the story, or she's just that unimportant to the game.

I was sort of thinking Irving's wife, just because it made the most sense.

But, I'll totally go on board with you continuing to think it's Sherry. Just for the sake of my sanity. I mean, how long can they possibly hold off finishing her storyline?

If the 10th Anniversary version of Wesker's Report is any indication, they've already "finished" Sherry's storyline. They apparently removed the part about Sherry being in Wesker's hands entirely. When I learned that, my hopes of seeing Sherry in RE5 fell to practically zero. I'm still holding out hope that it was simply a mistake, but I'm not so sure now.

The thing is, the woman in the tube is very clearly blonde. I suppose the argument could be made that the hair color was distorted because of the fluid, but it doesn't make sense for it to make brown hair lighter to the point of appearing blonde. You should still be able to tell that it's brown hair, even with the color distortion.

I don't know how long it could take them...but then again, it did take them 12 years to give Chris any sort of "story."

As for Irving, I wonder what kind of role he plays? Is it possible Sherry has been held by Excella (for Wesker), and Irving fell in love? Or maybe the blonde is just a random girl that happens to be Irving's wife?

So many questions, and no real answers for a few more months...

I hope Sherry's story is resolved in this game, for your sake and mine. If this could possibly be Wesker's last game, surely Sherry (in his clutches) would also have to have her story completed. You'd think, right?

But if Archelon is spot on about the Sherry situation having already been resolved, then...

I almost wouldn't want Sherry to be in Wesker's hands. It would most likely bring Claire back into that games, which would be nice...but doing that would also bring Chris back, and we'd get the same, continued cycle of Claire playing a bit part while the Chris/Wesker rivalry picks up again.
