I hadn't touched it in a while but spun it lately after hearing of
Dark Side Chronicles. UC hasn't aged well, but I'll keep it anyway.
Good: Wesker's chapters. Rebecca's side chapters filling in time between
0 and 1. Ada & Hunk. Umbrella's End.
Bad: Re 3. Give me the original anyday.
The opening cinema. Jill cornered by the undead. *groans*
Overall the rewriting of the plot was a horrible idea.
Didn't feel like 3 where 0 and 1 were fun and put you there.

I did the exact same thing, I thought I missed part of the conversation so I went back and replayed the chapter again and she still said it randomly. My guess is that the developers may have originally had some type of conversation between Jill and Carlos there and at last minute for whatever reason, they decided to take it out, and somehow accidentally forgot to take that one line out or something.Originally posted by nemesiswontdie View Posti remember that, the first time i heard jill say that i was like did i miss part of a conversation? so i restarted the level and nope she just randomly says that

The "It's just a sidegame, so it doesn't matter that it's shit" argument isn't working for me concidering UC is supposed to be canon. How the hell can your standards be so low? How can you have so low expectations from a videogame juggernaut like Capcom that you find it acceptable that they make it so blatantly clear that they're milking a series? Creating a game using 90% regurgitated 3D artwork from previous titles, and even though this process cost them relatively no money, they still pucker up and find the cheapest writers money can buy to write dialogue akin to that of 1996 RE1, and then pucker up even more to make sure the substandard staff they hired have to finish this game in as short a time as possible.
I wouldn't care if this was a sidegame, but not only is UC canon, it also edits the existing RE story to fuck it up entirely. "Red Queen lol"

Because it was on the Wii? Because it was an on rails shooter? Because they were trying to cram 4 games plus side adventures all in one game?Originally posted by Sina View PostHow the hell can your standards be so low?
I never really had any big issue with lag or delay...the game served its purpose of being a time wasting suppliment. I hated the RE3 bit, but everything else was mildly enjoyable if you took it for what it was worth.sigpic
Are you tired, Rebecca?

Okay well first do not tell me I have low standards. I do not have low standards just because I'm not screaming about how much a game sucks. Secondly, I did not say it doesn't matter if it's shit because it's a side game. Especially because I don't think the game is shit. Not as good as many of the other titles, yes, but not shit. As for being canon, the story retelling isn't the end all be all canon. The extra scenarios? Yeah, they're canon, and I enjoyed the extra canon a lot, Umbrella's end was <3 and I enjoyed seeing Ada's Raccoon City escape.

I can ask you the same question, except, why are your standards so high? I think it's safe to say that people who expected UC to be a spin-off, on-rails light-gun game got exactly what they wanted and were either indifferent or pleased with it. I don't see what the problem is here. Plus, if you didn't like it then fair enough, don't play it anymore.Originally posted by Sina View PostHow the hell can your standards be so low?

This. Umbrella Chronicles is an abomination. Fun for around the first couple of hours (I consider myself a fan of lightgun shooters) but it soon did wear thin. It's like the most simplistic version of the events around the series. Plus they missed out RE2, Code Veronica and RE4 as well as more than a few characters, just so they could give us Darkside Chronicles, obviously.Originally posted by Sina View PostThe "It's just a sidegame, so it doesn't matter that it's shit" argument isn't working for me concidering UC is supposed to be canon. Sweet lord, I know. Seriously, that T-A.L.O.S. garbage was just ridiculous. Ugh. While I did enjoy the last scenario in Umbrella Chronicles, I feel like the entire thing would've worked a lot better without the inclusion of that T-A.L.O.S. shit. Although I understand the project's purpose, the entire thing was executed so poorly, and it only resulted in me burying my face in my hands and shaking my head. However, I'm so glad something that pathetic was included in a side-game like Umbrella Chronicles rather than receiving its own title.Originally posted by fffour View PostYou gotta admit though talos was pretty embarassing, it didnt even look remotely like something you'd see in an RE game let alone representing the last thing you face from umbrella

Okay, so...
There's a lot I like about Umbrella Chronicles, but there's also a lot I don't like. It has tons of problems, and I'm not talking about gameplay. Gameplay-wise, I was fine with it, because it was making use of, like, the Wii's one and only capability, so hooray for that. It annoyed me how they altered some backstory, but I think I'm getting used to the fact Capcom is retconning things left and right for the sake of easy storytelling. Lazy? Maybe. Convenient? Sadly, yes.
So, while I have a very low opinion of T-A.L.O.S./Sergei/Ivans/Red Queen, they served a purpose. Besides, the Umbrella story is mostly shut and closed, and I'm thankful for that, because hopefully it means Capcom won't continue to alter things.
