I officially hate the PC version. I beat it, with Chris, best ending, no saves: 1:15 and when it asked me to save, I hit the button to do it. But no, the xbox 360 controller requires a full depress to function. So, not thinking, I hit the other button in an attempt to get it to work. Whats it do? Go back and let me save again like the PSX version did? Nope, just spits me out to menu.
Check out the new ending screen on the PC version.
Yeah I know. Roody never built access to the survey into the earlier build of our admin files and he was in charge of the Survey's (and Caption This) so I've never been able to update them.
That timing issue on the PS3 will be entirely due to the conversion issues inherant with the 50/60hz change. The sad thing is a few PAL titles that actually released suffered from events like that in actual porting to the format (Silent Hill in particular is one title, some sounds are clipped, and certain scenes are sped up). Wont make any difference to the output resulution if the console is trying to play the game in a default hz mode, probably because it's emulation coding is told that PS1 and PS2 titles for that console will be of a particular rate that existed in that region.
Good luck with getting that Rocket Launcher if you dont hex edit it out into your save file.
PAL/NTSC shouldn't really matter for anything via HDMI, though. Unless it's an unsupported resolution (which standard PAL 576 might be. Not sure if you're recording like that, or upscaling to 720p/1080p).
And then I wont be able to capture or see anything, Hurrah!
The German version had nothing different from the US/EUR version, which was kinda disappointing. I quit playing after fighting Yawn due to boredom. I did however just get the PC version playing properly, and holy shit it looks amazing in comparison. I'm gonna kick myself for not just going with it from the beginning for all the cutscenes. It looks so friggin good and baby smooth. No loading between dialog breaks/camera changes..damn.
Running this on a US PS3 has some time side effects.
Yup.
For some idiotic reason, the PlayStation 3 doesn't detect software region and just forces games into whatever's the standard for the system's region.
Anyway, that's why on your US PS3 system, you can at least go to that other menu (you know which one) and set your system region to Europe, restart it, and then start the game.
The reversed happens if you do it the other way too (50hz regional setting running 60hz title - stuttering madness )
Just beat the Europe copy as Chris. Got 2:14 as my final time. Running this on a US PS3 has some time side effects. Characters speech is cut off at the end and music is sped up 2x. My final time is sped up as well, but only by a bit (30 min?). I might have to move onto something more interesting. These "get the best save" runs are getting too routine.
Dot - Tis quite funny that not a lot of people know that the BH1 files had backgrounds, which became the norm for US releases in later years. When I first did the RE Encyclopedia at REFan, I added in the background images and I used to get e-mails asking why/how I'd apparently made my own art for those files. ;p
I've gone over your trvia q. Not sure if someone answered it, but I might be letting you down here because I'm not even 100% positive. I could also only come up with the Hunter thing at first. I thought maybe Chris' intro to Rebecca, but I don't think there was that many variants. My only other thought was perhaps Brad calling on the radio trying to get an answer from someone, because off the top of my head I can't recall how they were handled and for some odd reason I have memory of it happening in several different outdoor locations. As big a fan as I am of the original, horribly it's been probably three or four years now since I replayed it. :p
The Wesker's corpse view angle is in every BH/RE, from what I remember - and I have played only the Japanese and French version, never the American one. Still, after the first RE, and starting with Director's Cut, I have played only the Japanese and American version of each game
After playing BH through once , I'm pretty much done with it. I got the Rocket Launcher and Closet Key for both characters. Its extremely simple. Moving on to the European version now. If it becomes a bit boring, I may just pop the German version in to have a bit of fun
I never knew Rebecca waited at the triggering system
Sorry, I thought you knew about that... also, Wesker dead body view angle is different (next to the triggering system), depending if Chris is alone or not - they are at least 2 different view angle, one far away and one is more of a close-up.
The text, when you click on the corpse, may be different too but I am not 100% positive.
The text has a gray border color though, so there really shouldn't be an issue with including the background images.
You might want to go dig out an average early/mid-90s TV and an original PlayStation and hook things up with either composite or RF again.
Regardless of the presence of a border or not; That stuff doesn't look pretty. The less there is on the screen (and higher the contrast) when you display a wall of text the better.
