The translation could be wrong, you know.

    I have been betrayed!
I have allowed myself to be betrayed again!
I should have learned from my mistakes with Albert!

    That's a pretty big difference.

    Alex is a guy, The Japanese translation of the file confirms as much;

"I have been betrayed! Not once, but twice! He must be the same as that man, Albert!

I also believe that Alex Wesker is going to be a female. I thought of this right after reading the files in LIN and playing through the main game again. Spencer never refers to Alex as male or female and Alex is a double gender name. Also the biggest hint I could possibly think of is the clues that could be considered "clues" in the Spencer estate. What am I talking about, the pictures of course on the walls. The pictures show photos of Africa, the ruins where the progenitor virus was hidden, and a picture of Spencer standing somewhere.

Then there is the picture of the girl who's face has been ripped away so we cannot see what she looks like. Now I know some of you will be like, "well those photos are in every single hallway, they're just there for decorations or CAPCOM's just being lazy" and I reply yes and no. They use the same pictures again but for the reason that they want you to see and remember those pictures. The girl's face is ripped off. In the files, Spencer cannot believe that Alex would betray him. Now you'll be like, "well it's a coincidence" and you may be right but think of it like this.....

The game has very subtle hints that proves this. First off, Japanese cultures usually when ashamed will discard or destroy pictures of family members who have done so to their family. It's an old tradition that's not really practiced anymore but I am sure there are some families still like this. Since the game was made by Japanese, they'll usually throw in references like this. Or like Alfred and Alexia, incest was promoted but there was no actual proof. Because Japanese people don't show that type of stuff in their culture. Anyways, speaking of the picture being ripped by the face and speaking of the Ashfords, what other game have we seen a ripped face of a picture?

    DING, DING, DING, ALFRED ASHFORD!!!!!

That's right, incase if any of you forgot, when Claire enters the Ashford building, the picture of Alfred has the face ripped into and torn down. Was there not a file somewhere that Alfred said he had brought shame to Alexia and that he was not worthy?

So, Spencer believes that Alex has brought shame to him in the same manner and that she was his last hope, thus he ordered the destruction of the faces of Alex all over the mansion. Now you'll also be like, "Well he's not Japanese nor was Alfred and why didn't he just remove the pictures if he is ashamed of her that much" because the gamers would never see these clues or be able to put pieces together.

Anyways, it's just my opinion, but those are my theories on that matter. I remember years ago, I wrote a theory on Ozwell Spencer (2003) on a different RE site and half the people mocked me and laughed, funny, it turned out to be true. But like I said, the pieces are there, the great things about these games, at least the main ones, there's always evidence laying around in the puzzles, the files, and pictures, of what may be really going on. I do believe that Alex is female and that she'll be the new villain in the next few games that are to come.

I think the general casual gamers who know about RE games and played them but are not die hard fans of the series like us, will be saying in a few years "I THOUGHT ALEX WAS A GUY!" or "OMG!! WESKER'S ALIVE!!!" But yeah, just my opinion and only a theory still. Hope you enjoyed what I think to become.

We haven't had one since Morpheus although that's a technicality, so since Alexia Ashford (character mix up there B.B. - Ashcroft is the Outbreak character Alyssa's surname).

I view Ada as an anti-hero at the current time, so I wouldn't really consider her to be a full villain until she starts working on really screwing people over.

I think having Alex as a female would be extremely interesting and would be a good change in pace as most of the bosses and/or villains are male oriented, a slight change-up could be appealing for a lesser sex appeal aimed at a somewhat wider audience (as some gamers, both genders can be offended by over-sexualization of a character - so another strong character that doesn't have a sudden, completely nude (although cut) introduction followed by a completely nude transformation for a villain would be greatly appreciated and still keep the factor that this Alex character could be a powerful character).

Of course, it may be the case that this Alex ends up being the protagonist sometime instead.

Considering the sex of Alex is never mentioned in the files, I would not be surprised if Alex is female. To be honest, I never really considered it until you brought it up - I think most of us are so used to the surname "Wesker" that we assumed Alex would be male, and look (and dress) similar to Albert.

I would not be opposed to a female Alex, and it would not surprise me if Capcom went this route. Maybe she can kill off Ada!

On a similar note, here's the list of the 13 Project W test subjects, taken from RE5:

Why would they go with Alex?! Some of these names are comedy gold!

Jill was sent on a mission to infiltrate Tricell's German branch facility, overseen by Führer Hans Wesker.

Chris had to face his worst fear: another Wesker. Chris had better tread lightly - Derek Wesker hit .407 in his rookie season with the Yankees.

Felecia Wesker? Oooh, intimidating, Leon thought to himself. Sounds like a flower.

On second thought, I guess it's apparent why they chose Alex...

^ I still wonder why he's imprisoned. Wouldn't they just have obtained information from him, then eradicate him? Like Carlos M.?

... :O Maybe he's an experiment? Or... or... SHERRY (because we all know that they're just using that as a pseudonym to keep her in secret).

Maybe I'm just looking into it too much. Oh, Cameron, how much we need you.

This is the only document that lists Umbrella Minions near the Bridge. No mention of Miss Henri.

    “SPENCER’S NOTEBOOK”

I just received word that Raccoon City has been wiped out. The Americans
finally took action against us. I hope the irony of using the very military
machine that was supposed to protect them from foreign attackers to kill their
own people is not lost of them.

While the danger posed by the threat of the T-Virus spreading was very real, I
don’t think Americans will easily forgive their government for the deaths of
over 100,00 of their own people.

If the truth of this matter is ever brought to light, support for the current
administration will plummet. I don’t think he wants that. Even a child can
see that they will come after Umbrella with everything they have. To hide
their own foolish mistakes, they will blame Umbrella for Raccoon City’s
    annihilation.

It would seem Umbrella will share Raccoon City’s fate, but perhaps it will be
to a lesser degree. Umbrella was nothing but a tool for the research of the
Progenitor virus. Even without that tool, the research still survives. Only
Umbrella’s lowly employees will be hurt by its dissolution.

If the secret research involving the Progenitor virus is protected, then I can
always rebuild anew. I’ve already made preparations for such a plan. The
research facility in Africa remains a secret, and it is there that the
Progenitor virus is produced, something that we didn’t achieve until the late
    80s.

Only a handful of people in the company are even aware of the African
facility’s existence thanks to our strict regulation of the flow of
information. Only a minimum amount of personnel were ever transferred from
Africa to other locations, and they were always closely monitored.

Director Bailey has been confined to the African facility for almost 30 years,
and even that has all been for this day.

All that remains is to close that facility and everything will go according to
my plan. Once that facility is gone, all its connections to Umbrella will
disappear with it. Then I will have to deal with anyone who has a Level 10
security clearance as they are the only ones who know of the African
facility’s existence. Everyone else will be summarily disposed of.

My secrets will be protected. When one buries a treasure, one should not
    leave behind a map.

(A printout is stuck inside the notebook)

“PERSONNEL WITH ACCESS TO COMPANY SECRETS”

    Level 10

    Ozwell S. – Deceased

    Henning P. – Imprisoned

    Masaki T. – Deceased

    Jenny K. – Whereabouts unknown

    Carlos M. – Found -> information obtained -> eliminated

    Level 9

    Brandon B. – Deceased

    Frank E. – Deceased

    Isabella C. – Deceased

    Greg A. – Deceased

    Lee D. – Deceased

    Michael K. – Deceased

    Ethan W. – Deceased

I could have sworn there was a file mentioning she was alive in RE5, right in the control room before you go fight the Excella Uroboros. Am I going crazy? Can anyone back me up on this? xD

Hell, Barry's daughters have been given more characterisation than her.
She was mentioned in RE5? And my mentioned I mean her name was on a list of Umbrella researchers.

Still, I don't think it was merely there for giggles. I think, if characterized the right way, she would make quite an interesting villain.
